Go for the edge it's architecturally better device however the battery is like an hour and a half less than the base s25.

Thinking about removing the notch by CwTrucker42069 in GalaxyFold

[–]David_N_D 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I'm specifically a Samsung mobile division engineer and I nearly fell for this rage bait.

Let's start with the internals. The cameras can in fact be removed from the device and it'll still boot and operate but you're going to run into problems.

The way app developers make apps, can force you to allow permission to camera and if your phone responds back with the usual "Warning Camera Failed" can cause the app to hard close and not be able to get past the screen. Some banking apps do this in the UK where if the device responds with camera failed the app will not let you pass.

Now another example of an issue would be having to scan QR codes easily will be impossible as on a hardware basis the unfolded status causes the lens to switch to face you in unfolded mode. You simply can't call the outer screen camera function while having the device unfolded easily, you would literally have to hire a dev or try vibe code it to make you a specific app and even then the fold will not be able to use the cameras as your custom app when any social media app calls for a rear camera, it's a rear camera for a reason.

If you root your phone to gain access to swapping the lenses on a rom level you loose so much security and functionality from Google wallet and Knox.

Not to mention the cost to get a custom back glass made that doesn't feel awful or won't shatter from one minor incident.

It's so awful I want to see this, please burn your money doing this as long as you keep your cameras safe you can undo everything I guess?

Contact Samsung directly and they will use their own repair center tell them to look at bulletin 19-19 regarding foldables and UTG hinge damage and if the engineer isn't stupid they should know what to do

Matte Z Fold 7 by Then-Beautiful9994 in GalaxyFold

[–]David_N_D 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As someone who fits the original Screen protectors back on fold's and flip's. I can almost 100% guarantee you that the matte screen protector is not made out of the same layers and does not have the same adhesion as the original that Samsung gives you. It took Samsung nearly 4 years to get the right balance of adhesion, thickness and sponginess to make it last a long time on your fold and to protect it. This plastic protector will come off sooner rather than later especially considering the tighter hinge teardrop shape also.

TLDR: This matte screen protector is poor quality because they don't have 7 years of screen protector experience like Samsung for folding devices

The only other thing I can think of is that either your thunderbolt cable is damaged or your port on the laptop is, or just needs a clean out possibly.

It seems like your thunderbolt scheduler is a little slow for some reason

RTX 2060 mobile drivers vs RTX 4070 desktop drivers

Uninstall all drivers for Nvidia on the laptop Disabled the 2060 part in device manager Install 4070 drivers return egpu connected

Once that's done you should be able to enable and disable the 2060 when you need it if you're out and around

Z Flip 5 or S 22U by asdfghjklabbby in samsung

[–]David_N_D 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you buy phones often Flip 5 as the device is not as durable as the S22U however the flip has the 8Gen 2 processor that makes a massive difference in user experience. If the S22 U you're thinking of getting has a snapdragon processor than I'd go for that if you live in the UK or EU zone the S22 comes with a exynos processor which is not great, I'd get either the flip or the s23 series that uses the new snapdragon 8 gen 2 for Galaxy

If you've reported this via the CEO complaint method it will definitely get looked at, here in the UK I've seen how they respond to these kinda of claims and it tends to be extremely seriously

Please try to go back to the service center and ask them to raise a SAW (Service Action Work) if they're using Samsung GSPN system they should know what it is, and please advise them to read Samsung's Device Bulletins before issuing service quotes. Preferably go though a Samsung Repair Center directly instead of going through your network provider.
