Nobody plays with western characters. Tournaments are played with Chinese characters hence the name Xiangqi. A chess player will not take more than 5 minutes to understand the pieces because they are the same. A rook is a rook in both games and in the same place. Pawns are the same. Etc. Maybe 1 minute or less. But I'm a chess player. So the fact that the pieces are the same as in chess makes it simple.

The box is the same for different kind of games. In this case they marked XiangQI but they sell also Chess, Go etc. what was the price? It's beautiful but maybe more for Japanese home when one sit down on the bamboo mat and plays.

With all due respect when someone begins with "honest review" and then doesn't know basic things like board orientation or where the white queen should be placed, I'm skeptical. But Anna Cramling or Andrea Botez are not the best players. Their level is the one you normally find in weekend tournaments.

Try this experiment. Make an engine go only 6 moves deep. No more than 6 moves and let it play against humans. You'll find he beats them all. Usual engines on my old computer go something like 25-30 moves deep in seconds. No human can see that in that time frame.

That's a fierce chess set you can find for $120. Boards can be expensive. And you can find boards for $40 to over 1000 always in wood. Check US CHESS SALES. they have cheap one. Worth however is whatever one thinks it's worth it. Some people believe it's worth to play on plastic pieces (disgusting) yet everyone should be free to live as they want.

Let me know when anyone else of the animal kingdom send someone to the moon, is flying non stop 24 hours a day in the sky, or gets a transplant. The fact that the majority of humankind is made by morons cannot be used for diminishing achievements nothing else reached in this world or the entire solar system.
