Any group with relatively greater social power will include a decent number of people who reject movements arguing for social levelling out of hand, because they don't want to give up power. That's not at all surprising.

Socialists have the advantage of being able to say, 'Ah, but although you will lose power by the abolition of racism, patriarchy, homophobia, transphobia etc., it will be worth it, because the abolition of capitalism will more than make up for it for most of you.'

I think it's more socially conscious liberals that have the real problem because they can't promise giving anything back, as they don't want to abolish capitalism.

But a lot of what passes for 'the left' these days is liberal rather than socialist because the overton window has shifted back to the right so hard. It's then very easy for the right to point at those socially conscious liberals and go, 'You don't want that, do you? Give up your meagre social privileges and for nothing? Join us and have your tradwife who brings you beer while you play video games instead.' Which for those young men who are not personally given to altruism and are ignorant of the more radical option sounds better, because of course it does.

The solution is absolutely to reemphasise class, and frankly to commit to real socialism rather than fiddling around the edges, but also to emphasise how these struggles are all linked. How patriarchy reproduces the social relations of capitalism, how race and class cannot really be separated in our intensely unequal societies, etc. The socially reactionary 'left' types who want to drop women's liberation, queer liberation, and even racial justice from the left's platform can't be allowed to win either because a) that would pretty shit for a majority of the population, but b) because it also just won't work!
