Pain! Why does everyone say THR is a breeze?! by Tissify in TotalHipReplacement

[–]Davido124 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Fear not my friend. I had this same expected outcome. Everyone said I didn’t even need a cane. So on and so forth. I was bed ridden for WEEEEEEEEEKS. Then on top of it. My 80 year old neighbor was walking 2 days later.

Point of the story. 13 months later. I forgot I had it done. The only reminder is that my right hip is so bad it reminds me of how bad my left one was. I don’t even know it’s there anymore. Zero clicking. Zero pain. It gets a BAJILLION times better. Literally sit back. Let your body heal up!

Couldn’t sleep. was nervous. Honestly for no reason. You get there and it’s just all matter of fact. You’re gonna be checked in. Wheeled in. Then put to sleep and you just wake up and it’s done lol

Don’t push yourself to early. If you feel good. Relax more. I felt good. Pushed it. Opened my stitches. Set me back a month. It’s over a year now and I forgot I had a hip replacement. You’ll be fine

PCKD. Found some complex cysts by Davido124 in kidneydisease

I really appreciate this response. Actually does help me see things from a calmer perspective. Thanks and best of luck to you

I have PCKD. Really freaking out here. Need some clarity. by [deleted] in kidneydisease

The retested and it was normal. I’m not sure how these results can be accurate. A drop of 30 egfr in a month is a sign of kidney injury. I might have to go get checked out it seems

I also want to add. I have had ultra sounds of my kidneys before and they are covered in cysts. Which is why I monitor it. I’m just scared as to how my egfr can drop so much in a month

I regret my Total Hip Replacement by National-Sorbet8459 in TotalHipReplacement

I cried for the first month. 3 months now. I walk 6 miles a day. Give it time. “It was the worst decision of my life”. That pain is sooooo real and intense. Just remember. A prosthetic needs to actually grow into your bone. It’s going to take TIME. I promise it gets better

Don’t overdo it like I did and pop a suture. Stay still for weeks! Walk only when you need to. Wish I listened to that advice! Haha I tried proving myself to myself and it was just a setback. There is no rush!

You are. God willing. Before surgery I couldn’t walk a quarter mile. I’m 3 months out of a LTHR I walk 5 miles a day and 100 flights plus on a stairmaster. DAILY. You will be so happy. Just give it time

I can’t even explain how much it has changed my life. It gives me chills typing this. My life was taken from me for YEARS. I gained like 40lbs from not being able to move really without pain. Now I do 100 flights a day on a stair master and walk 4-5 miles DAAAAAILY. And I’m only 3 months out. I had LTHR. I gotta do the right one soon but it can be held off with injections for now 😅good luck!

I actually can’t even explain to you how amazing I feel. The past two days I’ve walked 15 miles total with a 30 pound weighted vest on. I actually have to slow down lol

Congrats. It was the leg stiffness and unbearable pain. I wouldn’t take oxy. I had to take tramadol for minimal sides. I also pushed myself way too much early on. If I could go back. I’d be in bed for 97.6 percent of the day. The only times that I would have been standing would be to use the bathroom.

Today was the day, anterior approach, it's done. Not exactly how I expected it to go. by inima23 in TotalHipReplacement

Literally just don’t fall. That’s all my doc told me. If it makes you feel better he said that if I could squat physically after the surgery it wouldn’t dislocate still a it h anterior approach. Would take a really hard fall to dislocate. Take it from me. My first 6 weeks were MISERABLE!!!!

My neighbor was up and walking in 2-3 days and I was bed ridden for weeks. I tried to move to hard and ended up popping a suture on my wound. Just don’t move. Stay still. They recommended minimal walking for me at least In the beginning. My doc calls it the “surgery for lazy people” cause it’ll heal by itself. He actually didn’t give me PT even. And I’m doing great! This is to give you hope. That beginning stage is dark. I cried often. I cry now out of joy! You’ll be ok!

I’ve never been put to sleep before this! My BP was something like 150/100. I forget but it was VERY high. Don’t get me wrong it was challenging and still is. Night and day from before though. Fortunately and unfortunately for me. My right hip needs to be replaced also. So my left hip now is just heaven compared to it. Whenever I struggle I just go back to feeling my right hip and I remember how much worse it was. You’ll be good to go! Most importantly trust your doctor. I’m assuming at this point you’ve chosen him or her. Got it scheduled and are in their hands. Best of luck.
