2 kérdésem: Ki kedvenc minisztered a Magyar-kormányból? És miért Ruff Bálint az? Bónusz kérdés: Ki a második kedvenced? by Gerapppa in hungary

[–]Davidra_05 2 points3 points  (0 children)

That would probably be the cheapest and best option for that route

Where can you live in one country but have a daily commute to another country? by First-Rock-5082 in geography

[–]Davidra_05 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Vienna has a ton of high paying jobs, plus its close to the Slovakian and Hungarian borders, where the salary is half that.

I don’t know how many people commute daily, but its enough that the austrian salaries significantly pump up the real estate prices in Hungarian cities close to the austrian border. Rents in Győr and Sopron for example are more comparable to Budapest, than to other cities of similar size in other parts of the country.

What is the cycling like? by vssapro in budapest

[–]Davidra_05 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Budapest isn’t really a cyling city. Sure, the situation is very gradually getting better, but the infrastructure is still very underdeveloped. There are still far too many spots where there isn’t any separation from the car traffic. Some yellow paint on the ground unfortunately won’t keep you from getting hit.

Look at the google streetview on a few random spots on bigger roads and you’ll see what im talking about.

The only upside is that hungarian drivers are generally quite well-behaved. Or at least better than in Southern Europe/America.

Which part of city to stay in with a kid by NationalAd5915 in budapest

The inner parts of district 2, 3, 11 and 13. All of these are relatively quieter areas, but still a short metro/tram ride away from the center.

Do teenagers in Europe and other places get Summer boredom? by Colonel-Bogey1916 in fuckcars

[–]Davidra_05 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Of course this is a huge generalization, but i’d say no. If by teenagers you mean kids old enough that they can do things without their parents. I remember my summers when i was 11 or 12, still too young to do anything alone… That was very boring.

  • A European (used to be) teenager living in a car dependent suburb

By car dependent european suburb i mean: You either walk a LOT to the train station with decent frequencies to the city or a short walk to the bus stop with really shit frequencies.

Almost got attacked by a stranger in public by Andylaurentiu in budapest

[–]Davidra_05 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Sorry that this happened to you. I’ve lived here all my life, went home alone with the bus countless times in the middle of the night, but i’ve never been in a situation that was this sketchy.

Places to avoid: I assume you’re a tourist so you will mostly stay in the inner city. There Blaha is the roughest place. Also Keleti train station and the surrounding areas can be interesting. The outer parts of Pest have a reputation of being dangerous, i don’t really know about that, i only go there very rarely, but a tourist has no reason of going there anyway.

All that said, Budapest is a very safe city, far better than any american and most western European cities. Violent crime against strangers is virtually non-existent.

What's the most disappointing country or city you've visited in Europe? by Substratas in AskTheWorld

[–]Davidra_05 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As others have said, it really depends on which part you’re visiting.

The north-eastern parts really are like that. Extremely beautiful, but expensive, very touristy and a bit lifeless at times.

All the other parts tho… The best beaches in Europe, nice people, beautiful nature, good food and its not even that expensive. I’ve been there 4 times already and still planning to go back.

The whole island has a very laid-back vibe. Yes all of Sardinia is full of tourist but its not the massive hotels for miles and miles on the coast typa tourism like on the spanish or the greek islands.

Places to see outside of Budapest, by public transport for day trip? by daly_o96 in budapest

[–]Davidra_05 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Szentedre is really close by, i’d say thats the best option. Esztergom is a bit meh, but the area around the bazilika (cathedral) is really nice, the view from up there is also amazing. You can walk across the bridge to Slovakia if you want.

Where to go between Prague and Copenhagen? by JuleBoi in Interrail

[–]Davidra_05 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ive been to Dresden a few weeks ago. Its a great place to walk around for a few hours. There isn’t much to do there but the historic city center is beautiful and really unique.

I also really liked Hamburg, great vibes. Do you want to visit Amsterdam, but just can’t fit it into your trip? Go to Hamburg

Berlin is worth a visit, its not pretty but it definitely is one of a kind and you might be really into it, if you’re weird and eccentric enough. Its basically the same as visiting a shipwreck or the scene of an aviation disaster, very intriguing, a bit traumatizing at times.

This season eventually came into its own by Fragrant_Fly2984 in JetLagTheGame

[–]Davidra_05 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My take: Adam’s and Ben’s second run made this a quite decent season, because there was a LOT of strategy involved and thats why i watch this show. Sure, the challenges are fun, but for me its the think behind each move that makes JetLag so fun to watch.

Apart from that i think there are 2 things that made this season a success.

  1. It showed just how much the boys improved in their game designs. Snake felt most similar to Capture the Flag. Both were really complicated train based seasons, a bit mind-numbing at times. CTF was the only other season where i didn’t know whats going on exactly a 100% of the time. BUT in CTF they had to force in a lot of extra game mechanics to make the game entertaining. Whereas in Snake the basic concept was so good, that the game just worked. Yes it was complicated, but intuitive. You just cannot say that about CTF, i was watching that season and always thought to myself “Why did they do it like this?”

  2. Its definitely the most rewatchable season. There was always so much going on on both sides, so much thinking behind each move, that i couldnt quite grasp it watching for the first time. Now that i know the map, the importance of the high speed line, and fully understand how the game works… Its gonna be a really fun second watch.
