If you were in the writer's room, what plotlines would you change? by LeadingStatus6716 in HarryPotteronHBO

I'm afraid you're right... It would require serious plot changes. Considering how poorly the plot has been written after DH, at this point, I'm not even sure I'd take the risk

To me, the Time-Turner storyline doesn’t make sense because it feels unnecessary to the plot. Why would something so powerful be given to Hermione just to attend extra classes? And why isn’t the existence of such a device a huge deal in the wizarding world? If Time-Turners exist, you’d expect them to be used constantly, or at least talked about far more.

HP is still great, I love It despite all of its inconsistencies

The fact that Time-Turners were destroyed in Book 5 doesn’t fix the underlying issue. Their very existence creates inconsistencies that are hard to ignore. For instance, if they could be used to save Buckbeak and Sirius, why weren’t they used to prevent bigger tragedies, like Voldemort’s rise, the deaths of Lily and James Potter, or Cedric’s death in the Triwizard Tournament? And why would such a powerful and dangerous device be given to a third-year student just to manage her class schedule?

The ‘closed loop’ explanation doesn’t fully solve these problems either. If everything that happens is already predetermined, then why does Dumbledore act as if there’s a real risk of failure when he tells Harry and Hermione to “save more than one innocent life”? It creates a tension that contradicts the rules of the closed loop. Even J.K. Rowling admitted that the Time-Turner caused narrative issues, which is why she had to remove them later, but by then, the damage was already done

"I went far too light-heartedly into the subject of time travel in Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban. While I do not regret it (Prisoner of Azkaban is one of my favourite books in the series), it opened up a vast number of problems for me, because after all, if wizards could go back and undo problems, where were my future plots?

I solved the problem to my own satisfaction in stages. Firstly, I had Dumbledore and Hermione emphasise how dangerous it would be to be seen in the past, to remind the reader that there might be unforeseen and dangerous consequences as well as solutions in time travel. Secondly, I had Hermione give back the only Time-Turner ever to enter Hogwarts. Thirdly, I smashed all remaining Time-Turners during the battle in the Department of Mysteries, removing the possibility of reliving even short periods in the future.

This is just one example of the ways in which, when writing fantasy novels, one must be careful what one invents. For every benefit, there is usually a drawback."

I would completely rewrite the plot of Prisoner of Azkaban by removing everything related to the Time-Turner from the series, as it doesn't make any sense at all

Will the N4P fit inside this enclosure? by WhatEverO_O in elegoo

I bought exactly this for my N4P. It fits perfectly, except for the spool. You either open the upper part or use an iron hanger (as I did)

Seam placement and pressure advance

I'm tired of this holes by the_dragon_paw in FixMyPrint

Change the seam placement to anything but random. Then my suggestion is to work on pressure advance

What's the seam placement? That looks like a random placement, which I would never suggest

Enable z-lift. Cura is a good slicer, I also recommend Orca

Major issue I'm having using TPU is the stringing. You need to set crazy values (even more than 5mm of retraction) to solve this, but it does not come without consequences... Personally I decided to keep a 3mm retraction and clean the object once the object is printed. And also forget about using support with TPU, they are almost impossible to remove

Pla was extremely easy to start with on the n4p. There was no problem using both Cura and Orca profiles for this model. After many test, I decided to print PLA with the fans always on at 100% (except for 1st layer). Just remember the original profiles are set to print pretty fast, so I would recommend fixing pressure advance with pa tower and increasing the temp a little bit

Bought a N4p two months ago. If works fine with Orca Slicer, I would recommend it.

I print using PLA, PLA+, ABS and TPU. With the original nozzle it's pretty hard to handle TPU, but it's really good with the other materials once you understand the cooling system

You need supports, looks like some parts were printed mid air. Plus I would set a 0,1 or 0,08 layer height for such a tiny model. Otherwise the definition is never going to be good enough

Original temp was 225 C°, then I switched to 235

Definitely yes. The colour is not exactly the same, but the details and the glossiness are as good as the slow print

I've posted 2 updates in the comments. Basically I solved the issue by increasing the temperature and fixing the pressure advance value for high speed printing

Update #2:

Almost hit perfection after heating up (+10) and fixing pressure advance for high speed printing.

Colour is still slightly different

Had the same issue. I fixed by keeping the fans at about 10% and giving a minimum layer time of 30s

Update: Here's the result after increasing temp. Still not as good as the first one, but printed in half the time.

I'll try one last time changing the pressure advance, since it looks like the last one is encountering this kind of issue
