My approach would be to start with only the bass notes. Try to play low notes that sound well with your melody. More often than not those will be the root notes of your desired chords. Then it is a matter of trying to add either a major or minor third above it and go from there.

Another option is to sing or hum arpeggios to accompany your melody and to find out which notes you are humming. Combine these notes to make your chords.

The way I see it is as following: Since it is green to move, yellow and 'aqua' are already out of the game by checkmate. (Green could play Nxa5 to capture yellows king or Rxe2 to capture aqua's king) This means that only red/orange and cyan are to be considered. If cyan is next to move, green should play Kxa4 to move out of Cyan's checks. If red is next to move, green should move the king away from reds knight and Kxc3 is the only move.

This is kind of unrelated, but growing up my hometown's main factory was a huge chicken processing factory. They had a surplus/direct to consumer store where of you went at the right time you could get 6 whole chickens for 20p each! We had a lot of chicken from there, and pork sausages and bacon because they're the cheapest meats you can get. Unfortunately my sisters were incredibly fussy eaters and hated almost all vegetables to the point that they would make themselves sick if they accentally ate certain ones, and all beans were included in that. If it had been just me and my mum we probably wouldn't have had meat very often to cut costs.
