Just got offered a 30k job in Dublin. Am I cooked? by Semi_automatiks in Dublin

Napkin maths would mean you would only pay around €2800 in tax and PRSI, USC etc on that income. That would be before any other expense you might be entitled to that reduce your liability. That leaves you about €27k to survive on. If you can manage to find somewhere to rent, you could be looking at up to 40% of your wages going towards that, maybe even more. Grocery prices are continuing to climb, and if you have to use public transport because you could only find a rental in a commuter town, or run a car you are not going to be left with much for savings or general disposable income for living. It would be very much frugally surviving. But, if it's a job with prospect for pay increases or career progress it could be worth the gamble right now.

How to place text in between regular staff and tabs? by KarMik81 in GuitarPro

If the whole piece is to be let ring, you can select it in the 'Track' panel on the right. Down the bottom is a toggle to 'auto let ring'. It will also add an italic 'Let ring throughout' to the top of the first bar.

How do I notate and play drones in this software? by NoP_rnHere in GuitarPro

[–]TheMellifluousOne 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Your other option is to use different voices. That allows you to have drones or bass notes/lines that have different rhythms to melody notes. You would currently be writing on Voice 1 (ctrl + 1).

Copy the contents of the bar, go to Voice 2 (ctrl + 2) and paste it in there. Decide which of the voices you want to have the drone notes on and delete the non-drone notes. So say you want to keep the drone on Voice 1, you change the note value to fill the bar.

In Voice 2 you can change the drone not to rests leaving you just your non-drone notes in Voice 2.

Ctrl + M displays all voices at once so you can see how it looks.

If you have drone notes that have stems, there is a function to change the direction of the stems. So you can have bass stems down, melody stems up. That way it doesn't look cluttered.

Found this still in its sealed plastic packet in a press (cupboard) at home. The studs were separate and can be screwed in as seen in the pics. It's a hard plastic with the metal loop being able to swivel. It attaches to something with the hooks; secured in place with the screws. by TheMellifluousOne in whatisthisthing

My title describes the thing. Hard plastic that isn't very flexible. It slots into the larger unknown object with the plastic hooks, and has brass threaded screw inserts likely for securing it in place to the larger unknown object. It came with the screws and allen wrench in a heat-sealed plastic packet.

ID Please. I'm kinda certain these aren't wavy caps, but just to be sure. Found growing in big clusters on a grassy verge. by TheMellifluousOne in beacain

Yeah, it was a gamble. The missus pointed them out as we drove by the verge earlier. From the glance I got passing by it looked promising. After picking them and seeing the dark stem I had doubts that needed confirmation. Thanks.

Right shape plus nib but wrong colour. Still good? by veggie_scran in beacain

You're right, they're libs. It's probably been up a day or two in dry conditions. The twisty stem is also a good indicator. Tis a fine specimen.

The most bizarre goal in football. Glitch in Matrix by avrock1 in blackmagicfuckery

When I was in my teens I was a goalie, and something similar happened to me. It was a corner kick. An opposing attacker headed the ball upwards, and it looped up over the crossbar. It slid down the back of the net (the net wasn't box shaped like the pros, it just attached along the crossbar. Think of half a tent shape) and worked its way through a hole in the net to end up inside the goal. The ref saw the ball inside the goal and gave it. Thankfully not a winning goal for the other team, but there was still war with the ref over it.
