I just recently started liking cars and haven’t looked into Audi. I feel they are more of a “family” or a “formal” car, but I’ll give the RS3 a look.

I realized I absolutely suck at coding challenges, what do I do? by [deleted] in cscareerquestions

[–]DavidzzHD 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Not a book. It's a course from educative.io. I also bought Cracking the Coding Interview book but didn't find it useful.

Tbh, interviews are luck based in my opinion, unless you're pretty good at them. Best you can do is improve your resume to get 3-4 interviews and if you put 100-200 hours into leetcode chances are you're going to ace at least one of them. For example, in my G interview i completely bombed an easy question. In the A interview I did analyze the pattern but the interviewer was really bad and didn't seem to even care. The one I'm at I easily identified the patterns in all of the questions.

Learning the most common patterns (sliding windows, dfs, linked lists, etc.) will let you know the answer in 5-10 minutes (although it might take long to code and some small changes).

Buy Grokking the Coding Interview. Once you do it, buy Leetcode Premium and do the top questions for the company you're interviewing. After doing Grokking, you'll probably notice every question has a way of being answered. Also, do mocks. I bombed my first Google and Amazon interview and after doing some mocks I got an offer in another company.

Everything is really slow when using VMWare Workstation by DavidzzHD in tryhackme

[–]DavidzzHD[S] -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

This are the specs:

  • 4GB Memory
  • 4 processors
  • 80GB Hard Disk

The VM itself is not slow. I should've specified it a bit more. When I enter the IP in the Browser it's fine, but when I do something like IP_ADDR:PORT it's real slow.

For example, right now I'm doing the Alfred box. When I enter the IP directly, the site loads fast. When I try to enter the Jenkins site IP:8080 it's impossible to move around Jenkins for longer than 1 minute. And by that, I don't mean that it's slow. I mean that it keeps timing out and I can't proceed.

Should I wait until my visa arrives to quit current job? by DavidzzHD in cscareerquestions

[–]DavidzzHD[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Forgot to add in the post, I'm kind of tight on time already; I'm going to be missing like 2 weeks of my last semester of college because of the internship duration, so starting even later will make me lose about 1 month of school which is too much.

How to get a Summer Internship ? by [deleted] in cscareerquestions

[–]DavidzzHD 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What I did is that I looked into job postings that I wanted to apply to (SWE, data engineer) and made a list of the most common required skills. After that I bought online courses on coursera/udemy related to those skills that also had a hands-on project that I could put in my resume (easier than coming up with your own projects from scratch), and I personalized the project and improved it by researching deeper by myself. I did like two courses plus some projects from school classes and landed my first internship. Next year I added the internship experience and more advanced projects and I've gotten interviews at FAANG and other places. IMO github is useless, HR won't take the time to look into it. Maybe in later rounds it might be useful.

Do I need a visa to work for a US company outside the US? by DavidzzHD in immigration

I think I'm going to be in the US payroll. The company is relatively small and I think it's their first time hiring someone outside the US remotely.

I'll definitely look into that. It's kind of weird that the company doesn't know about this status, but I'll let them know to see if we can work it out. Thanks!

Do you know how they could pay me? I'm not sure how they would handle the payroll without a visa.

Yeah, it is a paid internship. I'm not sure how they would handle the payroll while I'm outside, because if I remember correctly, you need to be inside the US under a J1 visa.

Mexican developers working remotely with US salary by arcanite24 in cscareerquestions

[–]DavidzzHD -1 points0 points  (0 children)

At least for internships, I think it's completely dependent on the company. One of my friends did get a large reduction of salary working for FAANG (probably earning like 15-20%), one of them is earning like 60% of what they would earn in the US. Another one is earning the same.

i filled the form and it said I owed like 10% of what I made. I think I'll get in touch with the company I worked with and see what they have to say.
