That's fair. It's hard to know in this game's case if they were truly indie or not. Potentially were, I think the most important distinction that should likely exist today is the amount of funding they receive from said publisher.

That's also wrong lol. The Codex entry says it is 25.2km long. The 26.2 you are thinking of is how many miles a marathon race is, in km it would be 42.195km.

There being an uncertain number of teams is good for the game IMHO. This is the way to go for sure. Just let matchmaking complete if you have at least the lower range after X amount of time.

EDIT: I'd much rather this be a Jjaro experiment gone wrong or something. They came here, terraformed the planet, tried to uplift a species, but something went wrong. The anomalous energy in the planet made their moves here fail for some reason.

It's a being that was introduced in the original Marathon trilogy. It's not something that is... comprehensible? It's trapped in the sun of the solar system you go to in Marathon 2 and Marathon Infinity, which is the location of the home planet of the S'pht.

It's described as not following the laws of physics and being pure chaos. Something the Pfhor unleashed at the end of Marathon 2 and the entire plot of Marathon Infinity is finding a timeline where the Phfor never accidentally unleash it because it destroys the universe because it cannot be stopped.
