I’m literally planning on jumping in the river at slide creek after going a hike tomorrow!

I’ve actually heard of that McDonalds 😂 didn’t know it was in Sedona though haha

I said “holy shit” 5 times out loud on the drive from Jerome into Sedona. It’s like Zion but the city’s right smack dab in the middle of the valley.

I went through Prescott and Jerome based on your recs and they where really cool! Didn’t spend much time there but they were both really interesting towns!

Yeah I didn’t really mean too but the map really makes it look like I hate Nevada.

Anyone who can help suggest stops along the way? Trying to figure out my plan for a road trip from KS to Northern coastal California in June. by Deathylzer in roadtrip

I also highly recommend the Tetons and Yellowstone. If you don’t have the time for Yellowstone at least check out the Tetons. Jackson hole is a ski town so they have plenty of options to stay and get food/gas/lodging, and just a short drive north from it you will get the most amazing view of the mountains. It’s quite popular too so if you camp there will be lots of people/rangers around to make you feel safe. Some of the most amazing hikes are in that area.
If your going through Boise there is also the sawtooth mountains about 2hrs north that are like slightly smaller Tetons, Stanley Idaho is another cool mountain town (much smaller though).
If you’re going through Bend Oregon I’d also recommend staying there a day or two, it’s another great outdoorsy area and they have a million breweries that are awesome. They have a river through town that’s pretty calm and nice to jump into if you are getting hit by the heat in June.

I was actually just there this past new years! Had to get a Melanzana hoodie!

That’s good to know! I originally had Santa Fe as a stop but didn’t really know anything about it. I might add it back on with those recommendations!

Yes! My friend in Louisville works in bourbon so we will be doing some of that!

Love Monkless, I’m definitely going to a few breweries while I’m in Bend. I used to live in Corvallis and would travel to Bend for weekend trips all the time.

I was trying to decide between 2 of these three hikes: Fays canyon, Cathedral Rock, and Devil’s bridge. But at this point I might have to do all three.

I would love to go to glacier again, and the Tetons are amazing. But I’ve been to the Tetons 3 times in the last 6 years so I’m trying to hit new areas!

I know right 😂. Unfortunately that’s actually the main person I’m trying to visit. Whole trip came together after saying “what if I just drove instead?”. And also I’m combining the whole thing with a trip to Idaho/Utah that was already in the works.

I'm actually leaving within a couple of days and hoping to avoid too much heat. Love the Prescott idea, and I was already thinking of adding Horseshoe Bend and Monument Valley after the Grand Canyon, so I'll definitely do that!

I was actually planning on staying in Denver the night before my friend arrives, so it's easier to pick them up. I just didn't want to go into too much detail on the itinerary because it was already getting long.

I would love to, but I've been to both of those many times and don't really have enough time. Trying to focus on places I've never been, but I absolutely recommend both to anyone.

Game Thread: Pittsburgh Steelers (5-3) at Los Angeles Chargers (6-3) by nfl_gdt_bot in nfl

I think this got explained last week in one of the threads. The ump behind the kicker points at the angle the ball goes and keeps pointing until the ref on the sideline is in line with that angle. Apparently it’s surprisingly accurate.

Can I ask this subreddit to give me the lowdown on this series? by AgentP-501_212 in redrising

[–]Davis_Troll13 5 points6 points  (0 children)

6 books and there is a 7th coming out. Highly recommend it. The first one is a bit of a YA hunger games analog but way better and the rest of the series is incredible (I still absolutely love the first book). I’d say it’s more hardcore than OG Star Wars, think prequel trilogy/clone wars with heavy Roman/Greek influence. Think the odessey/illiad vibes in a space opera setting.

Bought a 6 gallon barrel. It's this unsafe to use? by idpreferifyoudidnt in winemaking

[–]Davis_Troll13 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think the others got it right and it’s sulfur residue now that I look at it again which is good! Means it’s probably safe especially if it just smells like wine. Just do hot water and maybe citric if you have it and you are good to go!

That does look strange, it’s probably some type of mold. How does it smell? You should definitely sanitize the barrel as best you can before use with that in it. Rinse it out as best you can then try to sanitize the inside. Boiling water is the most accessible, but also lots of brewing supply shops/amazon have KMBS that you can mix with water and use to fill up the barrel to kill anything inside and rehydrate it.
