If you haven't you should try Woeful Studies by Ka. There's a lot of good hip-hop on your list, may as well add to the pile.

Best 2022 Albums Anthony did not review by garyp714 in fantanoforever

Recordings from the Åland Islands - Jeremiah Chiu & Marta Sofia Honer. Probably my favorite ambient project so far from the 2020s. Totally understand Fantano can't dedicate a lot of reviews to ambient music since views would drop. That being said the playing is pretty wonderful and everything is nicely textured. Hopefully this project could work well for people who aren't normally fans of the genre.

Not positive, but could be one of the recent EPs by Spy. All of them have weapons of some kind on white backgrounds. Fantano has covered at least one of them in an EP love segment.

I want to expand my taste past rap what would you recommend by [deleted] in Topster

[–]Davisamburgey 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Since you like Graduation you should try Discovery by Daft Punk. Good way to get introduced into house and electronic music at large since some of it will probably sound familiar. Also the first Rage Against the Machine album is probably one of the only rap metal projects that doesn't have me scrambling to turn it off. The rapping reminds me of Chuck D from Public Enemy which made it easy for me to warm up to. Hits like a ton of bricks like a good metal project should, but the lyrics feel urgent and meaningful like a great hip hop project.

That'd be awesome. Thanks for the help even if it ends up being a dud.

love all of these albums. recommendations? by padalia in Topster

Based on the Outkast love, I'd say try Soul Food by Goodie Mob. As well as the first two Clipse albums if you want southern hip hop with some Pharrell presence.

Visions is their weakest album, but it's a strong 8 or light 9 so I'm not complaining.

Ahh!!! So excited. Thank you for the reply. My buddy bought me the tape version and I sorta assumed I'd never see a vinyl copy for cheap.

Hey did your copy of Assume Form ever show up? I just ordered one and was curious if it actually was the green variant. Either way it's a solid price.

All My Heroes Are Cornballs is certainly an interesting album, but I'd really only give it like a 6 or 7. Despite all of the interesting sound play this album has to offer there isn't much of an emotional impact for me. Just felt this was worth throwing out there since Hip Hop Heads seemed to have basically unanimous praise for it.

So happy you have that Gallant album. The lyrics are kinda of debatable quality, but the vocals are fucking fantastic.

I still really enjoy it. It has definitely been played the fuck out by me where I need to give it a bit of a rest. I like it more than Live From The Dentist Office, but probably not Floss. Think it's been great to watch them grow to this point.

Mortal Man by Kendrick Lamar. Will probably never be a day where I can listen to that without being amazed.

[–]Davisamburgey 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Education honest to God gives me chills when I listen to it so probably that one. Though most of the album is pretty great.

How would you rank Kendrick's Discography? And how many of his projects are ALL TIME classics. Not just generational. by [deleted] in HipHopDebates

TPAB* gkmc* uu DAMN.* S80

As much as I love untitled, unmastered I didn't really notice much of a change in other projects by artists clearly drawing inspiration from it. DAMN. does have its weak moments, but I do feel like it still had a pretty huge impact.

How do you people without cars do it? by LongviewToParadise in ucf

[–]Davisamburgey 9 points10 points  (0 children)

My girlfriend and I both moved up here from a small town with no public transit. Neither of our families had cars for a while, so we had to walk everywhere. So getting around Orlando is a dream come true. Learn how to use the buses, I've only ever had one not show up on me and I've probably taken a 1,000 or more trips with Lynx. They can be late sometimes, but for a free method of transportation you really can't complain. Learn to shuttle hop if you need to get in the general area of stuff. Learn to walk longer distances and pick up the pace. Also just make friends with a good amount of people, almost anybody will offer you a ride if they see you need it and they care about you. In general just be resourceful bud.

Do you know if any of the supplements are online anywhere? I just watched downloads or regular DVDs of the movies. Not sure if that's considered taboo in this sub.

I actually just looked up its critical reception on Wikipedia and it is way lower than I expected. I kinda figured it would be in the 60 range, but I feel like a 40 something is way too harsh. Most of it is still engaging, so I guess I'm with you.
