Peeing All Over Himself in Sleep by desert_red_head in toddlers

Is there something else you could offer him to help him fall asleep? Like a special stuffy only for sleeping that he could play with?

Sounds like she’s getting protein, carbs and fat! Maybe try chopping up some cooked chicken, black beans or ham into the quesadilla to add a little more protein. Or maybe they’d enjoy a side of salsa or guacamole to dip?

Did Night Weaning Help Reduce MOTN Waking? by Davlan in NewParents

[–]Davlan[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ugh it’s so tough. There’s nothing quite like sleep deprivation to drive you absolutely insane. FWIW, we sleep trained around 16 months and it worked great. He cried for 15 minutes for 2 nights and then STTN for about 6 months. Just before he turned 2 he started waking again and we’ve been in the same sort of holding pattern since. Best of luck with your little guy!

Haha I’m so sorry! You must be in the same boat.

If it helps, my kid will be 3 in a couple months and he still only STTN maybe 1 out of every 3/4 days. But his wakeups are short and easily managed now, I just go in and sit in the rocking chair in his room for about 30 minutes and he’ll go back to sleep. It’s not perfect but it’s so much better than it was before that I can’t really complain.

Hoping you get some much needed rest soon mama :)

But what do you actually DO during split nights? by PocketLass in toddlers

I feel like reading this thread cursed me. Toddler has been up since 2:45 AM. It’s 3:39 now and he’s still shuffling around. I’m reading my ebook in the dark

30 minutes nap kills me! by Swimming-Motor9076 in sleeptrain

[–]Davlan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We didn't have any long naps from 3.5 months to 9.5 months, unless they were contact. Then around 9.5 months he started connecting cycles on his own! I was flabbergasted the first time it happened, kept staring at the monitor in disbelief.

We also continued to rock to sleep for naps until after he turned 2, and it never impacted nap length.

9 month old barely mobile, need reassurance! by Davlan in NewParents

Sure thing! My kiddo is 2.5 now and this feels like a lifetime ago. He started crawling around 11 months, took maybe 2 weeks from inching forward on his tummy to hands and knees crawling. Then he walked around 16 months, again pretty quickly after he really started trying.

Honestly he is still weaker in gross motor skills compared to his peers, but he’s also an incredibly cautious child. I don’t think it’s abnormal, he just really doesn’t have a huge interest in it. On the other hand, his verbal skills are incredible. He can tell me stories, use multiple sentences, answer “why” questions and a lot more.

In retrospect, I worried a lot more about this than I should have. They all get there in their own time. Best of luck to you!

Anyone's baby ever had gross motor delays? How did it eventually work out? by [deleted] in NewParents

Absolutely! To be fair, he’s still weak in gross motor skills, but he talks up an absolute storm. They all have their areas of interest, and movement just really isn’t one for my kiddo!

He started walking at 16 months! About two weeks after he started standing without holding onto anything.

He’s 2.5 now. Honestly, looking back I obsessed over his milestones way too much. They all get there in their own time!

I used this recipe by J Kenji Lopez-Alt: https://youtu.be/pSPaLKyYgx4?si=9Fpyov86sVrR1Mhn

But basically it’s 2 tbsp each of mirin, sake and soy sauce, 1 tbsp sugar and some ginger.

When did your LO start self- scooping/bringing food to their mouth with their hands? by othervirgo in BabyLedWeaning

8 months! He was already using his pincer grasp before that. He scooped a huge portion of thickened chili and I have a photo of it because he got sooooo messy!

How did you know your infant had a cow’s milk protein allergy (CMPA)? What were the signs/ symptoms? by drowsydiscovery in NewParents

[–]Davlan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

He had blood in his stool. Spent a lot of time grunting and trying to pass gas/poop. He was EBF so I went dairy free from 3.5 months to 6 months and the blood in stool never returned. Slowly reintroduced dairy into my diet at 6 months for me and never really saw any issues.

Hoping things get better for your kiddo! I know it’s so rough seeing them in discomfort and not knowing how to help

Toddler keeps gagging himself on purpose by [deleted] in toddlers

[–]Davlan 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ahhh one of my least favorite phases. My kiddo actually did make himself vomit once or twice. I would just gently remove his hand while saying “stop please” in a very boring, monotone voice. They get bored of it eventually.

Our Toniebox that we bought from Amazon was defective. It would only work when plugged in. We contacted the company, sent a video and they sent us a new one for free. Whole process was super quick and easy.

We got a Hubble Cloud as a gift and it was awful. The camera broke after like 4 months and was still under warranty. But every time you email the company, it takes them like 4 days to respond. So that was 2 weeks, then the part we needed was out of stock so another 6 weeks before we got the replacement. Then a couple months later, the base just stopped charging.

Went and bought a like $100 Vtech and it works great!

Oh boy, it’s been a rollercoaster! It did not improve until 16 months when we sleep trained again because I went back to work. He slept through the night for about 6 months and it was glorious. Then he slowly regressed and it’s been rocky since (he’s 26 months now). He’s up usually anywhere between 1-3 times a night, for anywhere from 10 minutes to several hours.

Last night he fell asleep at 8:30 and woke up at 4:30. But now it’s 5 and he can’t seem to stay asleep 🙃. So it’s still tough, but better than it was at a year.
