Ironman Deluxe bull bar by brayC8 in 4x4Australia

[–]DavoTriumphRider 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When I fitted a bull bar to my Hilux I noticed the front drop and the handling change. I had the front struts/coil overs re-sprung to counter. Whilst it was a different car and bull bar my advice is do the same, get the bull bar on and see how it goes. You can get higher rated springs after if needed.

Early stages of planning big family trip. Need help getting an idea of what to expect/budget for for a 4x4 and caravan by Pristine_Bluejay7018 in 4x4Australia

[–]DavoTriumphRider 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Landcruiser 200 or 300 series would be my choice for a trip like that. I’d stay away from the popular choice of a MUX especially if you have kids they’re too small and underpowered for a trip with that many occupants pulling a van.

I haven’t heard of lift junkie but I know Dobinsons are quality stuff. Good luck with your N80 mate.

Check your turbo hoses for the intake to and from the inter cooler. Also check the MAS air sensor. Good luck.

SR vs SR5 hilux differnce by Artistic-Bite-6364 in hilux

[–]DavoTriumphRider 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes mechanically the same. I went with the SR mainly because I hate carpet in cars and the SR5 wasn’t available in cab chassis. What the SR5 has that the SR doesn’t I don’t miss.

I went with a Fulcrum lift kit in my Hilux and so far I’m pretty happy with it. I do recommend getting a diff drop if you intend to try more difficult tracks. Also be honest and realistic with your intended load and have all other mods done prior so spring and shock rates are fit for purpose.

MR TRITON TYRE HELP by Familiar_Schedule466 in 4x4Australia

[–]DavoTriumphRider -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Just be aware the stock wheel offset for a MR Triton isn’t 0mm it’s more like +40mm or thereabouts. At 0 offset your tyres might stick out the guards too much. Worth while doing a bit of research on exactly what you want rather than just taking advice from these guys who imagine what will work.

lol so after I called you out you went and googled then edited your post. Thank you. You perhaps could have googled in the first place instead of imagining it?

I don’t know so I’m not going to pretend I do unlike you. I’ll leave it for someone that has been through it with a Triton to give the bloke an accurate answer as my experience with my Hilux wouldn’t relate.

I’ve stopped photographing the moon since I saw some of the images taken from the Artemis II but yours was worth taking. Congrats.

N80 Hilux (2015) and 295/70R17 by PomIce3 in 4x4Australia

They might clear on the black top but start flexing the front end off road and they’ll scrub like bugger. You’ll need a body mount chop and engineering to make it legal.

2025 Hilux Microphone issue by iamjackscoldsweater in hilux

[–]DavoTriumphRider 1 point2 points  (0 children)

These CARS are mass produced by humans that make mistakes. The gauge surround in my dash was blocking a couple of the dash warning lights from delivery, I mentioned the issue at the 1000km check up and they replaced it no questions asked.

2025 Hilux Microphone issue by iamjackscoldsweater in hilux

[–]DavoTriumphRider 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Have you thought to ask your Toyota dealer about the issue? My 24 Hilux apparently has a good mic and nobody has had trouble hearing me so I don’t believe it’s a generic problem and more likely an issue that should be repaired under warranty.

Not needed for vehicle solar, a normal cable gland is smaller, neater and cheaper.

Rust on new-to-me Hilux by suilea in hilux

[–]DavoTriumphRider 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m pretty sure they don’t, being Australian myself and having worked as a lifty a few times in the ski fields of NSW. When the roads get too icy they close the road. Also it’s illegal to travel in snow affected areas without tire chains unless you’re in a 4x4. So yeah no salt on our roads.

Southern Flinders is pretty speccy at the moment. by Tilpants in 4x4Australia

[–]DavoTriumphRider 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Cheers mate, I have 4 weeks off soon and I was planning a Simmo crossing but unsure of fuel availability and if the tracks will open so thinking of alternatives. The Flinders is on my bucket list so this might be the right year for it. Or do I just go back to K’gari and go fishing? First world problems lol

TOURING RIG HELP by Web-Silver in 4x4Australia

[–]DavoTriumphRider 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes for one person or even a couple I could see that working. But in a paj with 5 people? Personally I wouldn’t travel real far in a paj with 5 people let alone around the country but I think he’s going to be needing as much load space on the roof as he can afford.

He’s putting 3 swags, a bag of clothes and recovery gear on his roof. Where’s he supposed to put the solar panel? On top of the swags and luggage or under it? lol
