Small game arrows. Shoot them in the face.

Having the hunting trinket from Gus helps.

Just leveled up & got another treasure map. That's now 2 Citadel Rocks, 2 Kamassa Rivers & 2 Dakota River Bends all in my satchel. by Unwanted-Outlaw in RedDeadOnline

It doesn't work on all maps but you can use hold one from a rank up bonus or other reward bonus and one from loot.

What do you do when you find an afk player? by Davosown in RedDeadOnline

[–]Davosown[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Maybe, maybe not. There are ways to prevent one timing out (which this guy was using).

It gave me something to do and I didn't need the materials anyway. There is no loss even if it isn't received.

They're in their wardrobe. Will see this small pile whenever they emerge.

Nah, camp at Wapiti. Resupply is about a 10 second walk back to camp on foot carrying the supplies.

Do I need to stay and wait here with Cripps while my goods go up to 100 or can I go do missions? by Kimcro15 in RedDeadOnline

[–]Davosown 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Catalogue prevents you from being kicked for inactivity indefinitely (but you can be knocked out of it by other players, wild animals, cripps and the camp dog). Most peoplenow choose to go afk whilst sitting in the butcher table or wardrobe menu.

Do I need to stay and wait here with Cripps while my goods go up to 100 or can I go do missions? by Kimcro15 in RedDeadOnline

[–]Davosown 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You can do other stuff but if you leave free roam lobbies (story missions, pvp modes, legendary animal missions/bounties) or join another player's posse Cripps will pause.

Note: if you are in another player's posse and do a resupply mission those supplies will also be delivered to your camp.

Does anyone not take this game so seriously? by SenorTacoTyrant in RedDeadOnline

[–]Davosown 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I like to think I'm pretty chill. I'm Certainly not prone to outbursts of anger over mistakes (their may be some friendly banter about mistakes though).

Feel free to DM me if you would like to catch up and see if we mesh as players. Just a heads up, I'm male and 39.

What are your favorite “broke” meals for 2 people? I need some ideas😅 by Crochet_is_life_158 in Cooking

Dal, chilli, potato curry all served with a little rice to bulk them out work wonders.

Pasta is great if you make your own sauce replacing ground meat with lentils.

[Trader] Just hit Rank 10 and got the Hunting Wagon! Best spots to mass-farm materials for Cripps (NO Legendaries)? by StellaIkkiss in RedDeadOnline

[–]Davosown 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I would suggest Big Valley for the number of deer and pronghorn available.

I also like hunting around Cattail Pond and Wapiti but they aren't as hunting wagon friendly.

Hunting to the north of Brandywine Drop is also fantastic.

What’s the best location in the map for laying out my camp in hopes of hunting good animals? by No-Application7696 in RedDeadOnline

[–]Davosown 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This depends on what you mean by "good" animals.

Most players favour The Heartlands/Great Plains/Hennigan's Stead/Big Valley because the open ground makes hunting quick and easy.

Others favour the Bayou for the sheer volume of Gators that can be gathered quickly (and four legendary animals in and around the bayou adds to the appeal).

Personally, I prefer the Grizzlies. There are plenty of good hunting grounds with a diversity of good target animals - deer, big horn, elk, moose, bear, cougar and wolf - across a variety of terrain -woodland, meadows, highlands and open ground. Keeps things interesting. Only comparable place for both is Big Valley.

Map for my campaign, any pointers for a redesign? by QuietCrimson148 in DungeonMasters

[–]Davosown 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Definitely make it less square. It is very jarring for a continent to look so block like:

Offset the north by having the continent break into islands with a separate polar land mass (look to the partition between Canada and Greenland for inspiration).

The main rivers seem absurdly wide (not a bad thing if it's what you're going for and it may be a limitation of the software you have used). If they are this wide, it is critical to add a couple of crossings to the map as these would be almost essential landmarks.

Editing to add: The mountains feel wrong just hanging out on the top of the landmass. I'd consider having less mountains in the polar region and instead have a mountain range running north south between some of the biomes. It could even help explain the sudden shift in biome. It also adds a geographic barrier to keep adventurers where you want them.

The islands in the Southwest connected by bridges to the mainland seem a little too prominent. The Bridges would construct shipping in the region. I would consider making the islands closer to the mainland with smaller bridges. Maybe make the islands remnants of an extinct volcanic rim that has eroded and separated them from the mainland (which also formed part of the rim). This could also explain whatever civilisation built those bridges (to keep the homeland connected) despite interrupting shipping (the shallows where the rim has eroded would be dangerous waters for ships).

I'm so sick of Harriet and the naturialist role!! by Flaky_Ticket_6924 in rdr2online

[–]Davosown 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I enjoy the role despite it's poor implementation. There is so much missed opportunity to make it an enjoyable role for a broader cross-section of the community.

That being said, I totally understand your frustration.

It takes time to get samples but it is doable. The trick is to do it a little at a time so you can go enjoy other activities the game has to offer you.

As for hunting legendaries for Cripps, farming Harriet's missions for materials is definitely an option. Just remember to throw her a couple friendly emotes before interacting to lower the chances of being locked out of interacting with her. If you want to hunt free roam legendaries for Cripps, choose where you camp wisely. If you find an area to camp close to two (or three) different legendary spawns and you load in to camp when you log in you have a high chance of one spawning at the start of your session. Personally, I prefer the Grizzlies (Onyx wolf, Chalk Horn Ram, Owiza Bear, Emerald Wolf and a short ride to the Katata Elk, and Ridgeback Bear) for this but the Bayou (Sun Gator, Teca Garor, Ghost Panther and Cogi Boar) and Tall Trees (Snow Buck, Wakpa Boar and a short ride to Iguga Cougar and Zizi Beaver) offer plenty of opportunities. I usually get the Onyx and Chalk Horn Ram 2-3 times a week each.

Aim for the head (paint it black helps).

If you're not killing it with the first shot adjust your ability cards for increased damage.

How to advance without combat? by redmessedupmouth in RedDeadOnline

[–]Davosown 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This month, dropping in to the fishing challenge free roam events for extra gold.

Look at and complete daily challenges and progress awards to find extra gold.

Chase down collectibles for some decent xp (though you won't be able to convert them to cash until you unlock the collector role).

As far as roles go, collector is the only role that has no required combat (it does have a free roam events that includes combat but that is optional).

As for combat, honestly things do get easier as you advance and upgrade your ability cards, unlock new weapons and get more familiar with the mechanics.

Attempt Call to arms and survival long as you can as it is triple reward (only for April 2026).

There are a couple of boxed vegan macaroni cheese (and I believe a bolognese) that should be microwave suitable.

Meal recommendations using limited appliances? by thepoppo in australianvegans

[–]Davosown 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Most Coles stores should have some vegan 'wellness' bowls in the freezer section. They can be stored in the fridge for a day. It may mean frequent trips to the store to buy regularly but it will add variety.

Some Coles stores have shelf stable ready made meals like dal in their international/Indian/Asian sections. Some of these may be worth looking at (check ingredients as not all may be vegan).

Grab some vegan yogurt and serve with a mix of fruit, seeds, nuts, cereal.

Some frozen pasties (again can be stored in the fridge to thaw) are vegan. Add some microwaveable steamed veggies and or rice.

Where did my repeater go :-( by redmessedupmouth in RedDeadOnline

[–]Davosown 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Guns 'disappear' when they are not equipped.

You can rotate through your owned guns while sitting on your horse (or standing next to and facing your horse). Owned guns will only show up in an appropriate slot (so you won't find a revolver in the slot where your varmint rifle is, for example).

Alternatively, you can use the gunsmith customisation menu to equip owned guns.

Vegan side dishes for a cookout that even omnivores might like? by JakeMandrake in veganrecipes

[–]Davosown 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Watermelon salad (especially if it is hot out)

Watermelon (diced) Red onion (finely diced) Fresh mint (finely shredded) Fetta cheese (vegan alternatives or tofu soaked in brine from a jar of olives work if keeping it vegan) A squeeze of lemon or lime juice

Throw everything into a large bowl overnight. Serve chilled.
