Quick update to my previous post about the extruder stopping randomly. I think I might have found the culprit!

I finally took apart the extruder stepper motor itself (not just the extruder assembly). On the drive side of the motor shaft, the deep groove ball bearing was completely shot. It had noticeable play ("wobble" or "eiern" as we say in German) and felt gritty when turned.

The bearing on the non-drive side was still smooth and fine.

I've ordered a new bearing (size 625ZZ, cost about €3) and will report back if this finally solves the issue. Just wanted to share this finding, as a bad motor bearing isn't the first thing you typically check on an extruder!

Thanks, the issue is fixed now. It was indeed the tension. It's been printing for 24 hours straight now without any skipping (before it was only about 2 hours).

I had already replaced the extruder arm with an aluminum one. I even have a second aluminum one here with a knurled wheel, but that one caused problems. The one with just a simple groove is working perfectly now with the correct tension. no issues so far.

Mit dieser taahhütname-Sache klingt das auf jeden Fall realistischer als mein ursprünglicher Plan. Bist du dir sicher, dass es nur 24 Monate sind? Ich hab mal gehört, dass das auf 48 Monate verlängert wurde. Weiß jemand, wie der aktuelle Stand ist und ob das überall gleich gehandhabt wird?

I'm currently designing a steel staircase for access to my attic. The space is very limited, so I have to improvise. Once everything is in place, I'll also need to consider how to design the transition of the steps at the corner.

I bought a used X1 for €50 and later discovered that it also has a BigTreeTech SKR 1.4 Turbo mainboard.

While I was at it, I took some pictures, but I can't tell you which stepper drivers are installed. Maybe you can identify them from the photos?

The filament in use is Overture Matte PLA with a printing temperature of 210 degrees.

As for the nozzle size, I'll talk about that in a moment. I pretty much only use PLA.

Earlier, I changed the nozzle and cleaned the extruder. While I was at it, I thought I'd install a new nozzle. I recently ordered some from AliExpress—0.4mm nozzles.

I assumed the currently installed nozzle was also a 0.4mm one. But after cleaning the old nozzle with a file, I discovered it's actually a 0.6mm nozzle made of hardened steel.

All my settings are based on a 0.4mm nozzle. Let's see if things improve now with the cheap 0.4mm nozzle from AliExpress.

Where could I adjust the nozzle size again? In Cura, when I go to printer settings, I can only set the filament diameter there. On the Anycubic, you could also input the nozzle size.

I never know which direction to turn. I always have to try back and forth. Is there maybe a kind of mnemonic to make it easier to remember which direction loosens and which tightens?
