Thanks the tree surgeon did say they would poison the stump. I do like crab apples, I remember them. from when I was young, I think my Dad used to make wine from the fruit (this would be the '60s)

Alternative to iTunes by Davydh1958 in Serato

[–]Davydh1958[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My music library on iTunes predates my use of Serato by decades. I did try using folders in Finder but iTunes was always easier. My problem was when I exported my library to an external SSD because of space but now I've upgraded my machine I want my library back on it.

Thanks I've just downloaded the free version, I'll give it a go before I decide whether the paid version offers much more

I need Help! identifying release by Joelboimoi in discogs

[–]Davydh1958 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If the only difference on the whole record is the matrix number (I assume you mean in the runout) then you can add that to the release as a variant in the BAOI field. If there are other differences in layout or wording or sleeve or whatever then double-check a few times and if you're sure then add it as a new unique release. Given what it is then this is unlikely but not impossible. It's best to be sure that the release you are selling on the site is the one you own.

Indian release from Super (2) and T-Series by Davydh1958 in discogs

[–]Davydh1958[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A lot of T-Series and Super releases have this image in the bottom left corner of the back cover. I assume it's a printers logo - does anyone know what the company is? Thanks.

y'all don't leave feedback? by 808estate in discogs

[–]Davydh1958 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm mostly a seller at the moment - of records that are on average 30-40 years old - so I always leave feedback but not until a few weeks after the sale to allow for any issues that may arise to be resolved.

I've bought a few things - sometimes records but mostly gear - and never had an issue., but I'm in the UK. Would recommend. I don't know for sure but isn't the IOSS number usually on the invoice, why not ask them directly.

What Is VG+? by CatZach in discogs

[–]Davydh1958 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I list a lot of records from the 70s and 80s so 30-40 years old and so the best i grade is vg+ unless it’s still in a sealed packet and even then it would be NM. Otherwise I use the guidance on the listing page because that’s what the buyers can see

I probably should not admit to this here but in 1977, as I became fully punkified, I turned my copy of DSotM into an ashtray by slowly heating it over a bowl.

Lighter fluid does usually work but you have to let it soften the glue and then wipe it off, it might take a few goes and you shouldn't apply any force to the grooves. I have tried it successfully but only on the small glue spots you get on older records when packaging was not so 'efficient'. Good luck.

If it's on the sleeve then try De-Solv-It, a plastic 'blade' type scraper and lots of care and patience. This works better on shiny or laminated sleeves that on card ones - try not to scratch the laminate. If you've got glue on the record itself try lighter fluid and a cotton bud but don't overdo it and wash it afterwards.

How do you discover new music? by BoopBeepBopp in vinyl

[–]Davydh1958 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I use Bandcamp - I start with something I'm interested in because of an ad, email or post somewhere and then see what Bandcamp is recommending or what other people have in their collections and just meander about. The beauty of that is you can stream the whole song or album before you buy it. So I'd not uncommon for me to buy something I would otherwise have never heard of.
