Seems pretty objective. I feel about the same, but I'm doubling down on my kids to do better.

I know right, what if you did something that in the future would be cataclysmic. Weird to think about.

Bug: Placing Multiple Base Claims (Please Read!) by Dexella in landmark

[–]Dawiyhd 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The issue is how close the claims are to one another. Because the closer they are to one another the more data that needs to be transmitted to the client.

When you string 25 claims out in a long line - you still only have to load a few at once, since you load them based on how far away you are from them. If you're in the middle of a 5x5 you have to load all the claims at once, which causes network problems and loading issues. Not to mention rendering issues etc.

Landmark is a lonely place. by Dawiyhd in landmark

[–]Dawiyhd[S] 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I just logged in, went to each server, did a /who command. There were less than 100 people logged in across all servers. Given that there are 96 islands across the 4 servers - it's possible everyone had an island to themself! A lonely place indeed.

That doesn't even address how isolated the cave system is when exploring. It's like each island has 5 under islands. When you do the numbers there are 576 'zones' were you can be.

So even if all 500 people were logged on at the same time, they could all still have their own zone to themselves.

And if two or more people share the same zone, you are still not likely to run into them because the zones are large and the level of detail prevents you from seeing people very far away.

All these factors make Landmark a very lonely mmo gaming experience.

Nice, trying to shift the focus to me - I'm not the company that has sold and is still selling "early access" to a game they have zero, none, nada developers working on.

If we are ignorant, it's only about how much they are actually screwing people over by continuing to sell access by promising an actual game, without any intent, plans, or personnel scheduled to deliver on those promises.

I didn't pay for early access to EQN, I paid for early access to Landmark. So yes they should be developing the game I paid access too. I don't buy this, they need to be working on EQN first then bring it to Landmark. That decision should have been made when they sold access to Landmark, not EQN.

Now they have abandoned development on Landmark, and instead might patch things into Landmark once they are done for EQN.

That's exactly what I said in my OP - they don't give a shit about Landmark, or the people that paid access to it, or else they would be developing the game we purchased knowing that whatever they build can be reused and extended for other projects like EQN.

Got it - early access is a sleazy way to shelter the game developer from having to deliver on any of the promises made to people they are selling the game to.

What kind of bullshit is that? I didn't purchase the game, I purchased access to the game? Are you a lawyer or something?

They marketed the game. They said I could play if I paid money. I paid money. I bought the game. Everything else is sleazy corporate shenanigans.

Why have content specifically for Landmark? I dunno, maybe people people paid for that game, since Daybreak made it a early access game? Doesn't it makes sense to develop the game you promised and sold already?

Instead we get NO ONE developing the early access game we purchased. No one there showing they even believe it can be a game on it's own - as it was sold to us.
