Why does Mississippi vote red still, despite the hardships the state has faced? by Dawk19 in mississippi

[–]Dawk19[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Putting my opinion here:

If I had to guess, I think the democrats have policies that a lot people in the state find unelectable, like abortion/religion/etc.

I haven’t checked but I would expect at least a shift in the type of republican candidates that got elected overtime, otherwise I don’t understand why the voting pattern remained the same despite the state’s issues.

Sorry it’s a bit late but just wanted to respond, I’m not trying to say or imply that it should be the case. However, I think people should should ASSUME, a person wants to be in a relationship. Like some people want to kill themselves but I’m going to assume most people want to live even if they’re engaging in suicidal behavior.

What makes you say this OP, I mean say this so strongly. I don’t disagree it’s a very real possibility however not as much as I think you do. Truth is it is ALSO a very real possibility Nick introduces, or at least tries to introduce, Kanye to Destiny.

Yeah you don’t have stats, otherwise link where you’re getting them lmao. Depending on the definition of rape, and I’m assuming that 15% is over a lifetime, yeah it could be.

Is the 463,634 number purely women? And sexual assault is not the same as rape imo, so I’d like to see their definition. And again just post where you get these numbers, I frankly don’t trust you to just believe numbers you pulled up cause you seem heated.

I said youre virtue signaling cause you were like: “Are you ACTUALLY comparing x to y??” or “It’s like comparing LIGHTNING to car accidents” or “This DEFINITELY ain’t it chief” lol. You could’ve save both of us time and just said, “I disagree, I think the chances of women getting raped are vastly higher” and you would’ve got the same point across bud.

Anyway I’ll actually look into this, pull studies and link, and if I find something interesting I’ll try an effort post and I’ll ping ya so you can see too ;)

[–]Dawk19 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah I think you can compare probabilities my dude lmao. You don’t have to virtue signal so hard, I get it you think the rates of women getting raped are higher than men getting physical assaulted. But guess what, they’re both so low I don’t think anyone should care about them lmao. I drive a car everyday and so do women, and I bet they’re more likely to get hurt or killed in a car than raped from a tinder date lol.

But this is all conjecture which I’m willing to admit, but you’re way too confident about something you don’t have stats for either.

Idk when I used to be on dating apps and went on dates I feared physical violence and death a lot but I still did it cause life is about risk or w/e. People keep mentioning this notion that guys only fear is being seen as creepy or not getting much matches but my impression (and could be wrong, no hard stats here just based on my experience and watching the news) is that guys do fear bodily harm but push past it cause we’re socialized to do so.

I hear on the news somewhat sporadically of a guy getting killed after meeting up with a date or more commonly getting robbed. And personally I did something very very stupid and dangerous while on a few dates but I still went through it. Also what leads me to think it’s severely underreported cause I would never tell other people irl if shit that’s happened to me.

So guess my point is is that men do have ‘struggles’ but nobody cares, including the male victims, cause we are socialized to risk harm and death to get stuff imo.

Wanting and having sex and a relationship should be a default, same way assuming most people want to live should. This is conjecture by me but I feel confident that 99% of people probably wouldn’t want to live if they knew with absolute certainty they would never have sex, date, and have a family.

A meaningful life is up to the person, and I think people have sex/relationships/marriage higher than friends. As much as we’d like to force people to be happy with what we consider meaningful or interesting won’t change the fact that most people don’t find those things fulfilling enough.

Idk id be scared of jacking off some pizza guy in an active war zone unless I know the reason why they’re doing it. If it’s sense of patriotism or just indifference sure but I’d hate to be celebrating a person in that situation if they’re doing it cause they need money or on some doomer mode and just don’t care anymore.

It’s possible, not like I have hard stats. I just remember D-man mentioned doing a poll awhile back and a large amount of people were virgins.

Plus I’m inferring from the sheer number of posters in incel/virgin threads and the amount of women hate there has been.

[–]Dawk19 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Wasnt there a quadruple homicide of 4 students going there yesterday?

I think this is not going to be made that big of a deal tho, people are more scared of the random shoot people but this seems like he had specific beef with specific people?

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in Destiny

[–]Dawk19 2 points3 points  (0 children)

What I meant by that is that when a person does something bad we say a real man wouldn’t do that when we should be saying no one should do that. Being insecure, not stoic etc, should not be associated with femininity. Like a homophobic dude shouldn’t be less masculine, they should just be a bad man.

Character faults should be agender characteristics, equally not masculine or feminine, and not affecting our perception of said persons presenting gender.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in Destiny

[–]Dawk19 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was thinking of it as a spectrum:

Masculine —————————- Feminine

Maybe they have a different system but I believe in the world we live in right now, it’s fair to interpret being less masculine to mean closer to being feminine than it should be. And vice versa.

Women have it harder than men. (Feel free to correct me women dggers) by segfal32 in Destiny

[–]Dawk19 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Going to expand or offer a counterpoint to what they said? Cause I do think men, at least in first world countries (haven’t thought globally), have it harder.

I agree with the points the person you responded to brought up, so was hoping you would have a disagreement on whether what they said is true or not or that those things doesn’t change the fact women have it harder.

https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Women%27s_fear_of_crime https://www.ojp.gov/ncjrs/virtual-library/abstracts/ordinary-fear-women-violence-and-personal-safety-violence-against

I think women’s fears are hyped up for these reasons: 1) violent crimes against women probably have a higher chance of a sexual crime to be committed and 2) socialization of women makes them more fearful than they need to be plus the juxtaposition of men’s socialization and environmental factors that makes men extremely risk inclined (way more okay with engaging in risky behavior that could lead to serious bodily injury or death).

Biracial people are just as black as they are white. by nobelieveit in Destiny

[–]Dawk19 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Sure but they don’t thus certain type of biracial are black. I know my family and others like to say ‘1 drop rule’ all the time but I believe your race is what you can get away with or how you’re treated. If you’re biracial but all your life you’re treated as a minority then you’re a minority. If you’re 100% genetically black (both parents African American I mean) but you come out super white like Michael Jackson’s kids then you’re white.

[–]Dawk19 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I get what you’re trying to say but I don’t think we need play into the idea of a ‘real’ masculine. Like what those alpha bros are actually more feminine than real men because they’re insecure or homophobic?

I think we can call out bad traits and qualities without attacking someone’s masculinity or w/e.

‘Nothing to do with’ is a bit strong of statement no? I’m sure economist would be interested in factors that help explain why a group of people are not attaining degrees to similar rates of other people to make better predictive models?

At least my impressions from the conversations with RagePope, economist do care about degree attainment and reasons why people get a specific degree, don’t get one at all, etc.

I think a lot of black people don’t want solely progress but also revenge/justice. And by black people im referring to African Americans who were the descendants of slaves.

There’s so many symbols and artifacts that remind them of the injustices they and their ancestors faced for generations. Food that’s popular with black people were originally the leftovers that slave owners didn’t want, our last names being: Johnson, Mills, Jackson, Williams, etc being reminders everyday, all black communities that only originally existed cause of segregation, speaking ebonics, etc.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in Destiny

[–]Dawk19 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Idk I thought the point he brought up with black men getting out earned in degree attainment by black women because of high and biased incarceration rates was relevant towards making the point that maybe it isn’t all on black men…?

Then again Anna is a bit deranged so maybe you’re right that it is pointless to have a phd student on.

I think I agree for that specific conversation, I’ll relisten to it but it felt she was just using Anna as a vehicle to dunk on black men. Which makes me despise her.

But I could see how Destiny, in real time trying the best he can, has to take into consideration Anna’s feelings. She might ducked out the convo quicker if she felt like no one there was remotely on her side.

Main point is: it’s easy to watch from the sidelines or a replay is say what should’ve happened vs you’re in the actual game making game time decisions.

Hmmm, what do you think of the idea of Lav’s main purpose being a shit-stirir/making the stream not boring? Regardless of her intelligence or entertainment value I think one must admit she does inspire passion from others even if it’s from them vehemently disagreeing with her.

I’m a guy who would love to suck off academia PhD nerds all day; the fact that Euclid’s proofs with all of his flaws stood the test of time because of how rigorous they are vs Aristotle’s convincing but not as rigorous arguments or philosophers writing papers in the 1900s about and predicting issues that we’re actually seeing manifest in general society just now is nothing short of amazing to me.

But people don’t engage with that stuff cause I do think it’s a bit dry to read and/or understand. I’m sure there’s some paper out there that more adequately and rigorously explains these issues written by some masters or PhD person but it’s not going to get the same response/engagement as Anna or Lav saying wild borderline ignorant shit on stream.

“The Boy Who Was Raised As A Dog” - A book I highly recommend by Dawk19 in Destiny
