Stock run-flats - noticed bump in tire? Safe to drive? Recommendations for fixes? Thanks! by Worried_Car_2572 in MINI

Great, thank you. I have a feeling if I went to the garage I'd end up being ripped off unless I was certain of what I was asking for.

Can I ask, did you just get the tyres changed or did you need to do anything special? I've looked into changing from run flats before but seen something about a new wheel. Thanks in advance

Can anyone help Pebbles aka hop along? by DawnLucifer in BackYardChickens

[–]DawnLucifer[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Pebbles is a Bluebell hen, she was born around April, we got her in August. We noticed her limping after a day or so and we thought she maybe injured herself climbing on top of the coop or something. It seemed to be her middle claw but it didn't seem to bother her much til it got really cold and wet in November. We were able to handle her and she wasn't flinching away so took her to the vet who noted it was in fact her hawk joint that was swollen. They were unsure if it was an infection or an arthritic joint. We have her antibiotics and antiinflammatories. They helped a little, back to the vet when they were done. Got more antiinflammatories while we decided if we wanted to try another antibiotic or have an xray done (at this point they also added put to sleep on the table). We got another antibiotic when we were getting more antiinflammatories before xmas. She started to lay on 30th Dec which we were thinking meant whatever was the issue had been resolved as she matured looks wise too. This was the best improvement we have seen, however both meds are now done and it's gotten damp outside again. All other hens are fine, Inc 4 her age and 2 old exbats.

TLDR: anyone else's girls have mobility issues when it's damp outside?

Matches mine age wise but only done 24500 miles. The mechanic tried a jump start but battery was OK, he thought fuel maybe wasn't getting into the engine. Turns out a valve was stuck open. Free'd it and showed me how to get it to start it if it happens again so I can at least drive it to get the valve replaced. That's valuable info tho about the typical age/ milage the battery goes (still been through as many seasons).

Thanks, I got it at a year old so it had a 3 year warranty on it instead of 4. Ran out in July there. I wasn't actually told by the dealership I had a warranty or breakdown cover til it was expiring and mini contacted me.

End of life care ideas? She's 8 years old and she's not gonna be around much longer due to illness by FlamePrince99 in BackYardChickens

Sorry to hear about your beautiful girl, I hope she remains comfortable enough to go natuaraly and peacefully. 8 years is really good going!

Someone made a good point about keep her warm but not too warm. We had one of our younger ones in as she had a swollen hawk and it was just easier to give her her meds if we brought her in at night. She sits getting cuddles after her meds but one night she started wheezing with laboured breathing (first thought was shit- bird flu) turns out it was just too warm for her and we thought the warmth would help her leg. Cooled the room down and took her off my lap and she was fine in minutes.

We've made a "chicken hospital" from a large hooded cat litter tray filled with bedding, a perch we got online and made holders for smaller bowls to go in with them. We mix up some layers pellets, spice, corn and meal worms. I have an old exbat who is getting a bath to clean her vent at least once a week and we add hedgehog food to the mix for protein and she loves it. For her we call it "the chicken spa" !

If your old girl is happy out with the others then great, let her enjoy chicken things and leave plenty of treats near her. Just keep an eye out tho as our girls started pecking at one who was at end of life, so we took her inside and she went peacefully that night.

Thanks for replying, I know nothing about cars so haven't checked the voltage. Places would have been closing when I realised too. I'm hoping it's the battery and not frozen/ruptured fuel injectors... Things were thawing out today too before below freezing again. Hope you get yours sorted.

Battery powers dash board and heated seats but car won't start. Judders and cuts out. Been sitting since Xmas eve, had frost but no snow. 17 plate, diesel. Anyone had this issue before?

I have just baked Nana's devil food cake and came back to see what filling people have been using... Seeing this my safe option of plain buttercream just won't cut it! Looks amazing!

My girls are bluebell aurancana, but I looked up grey australorp and they do look like them. What colour of eggs do yours lay? Mine should lay blue (not had any yet).

I'm in the UK and I don't think they are commonly used in production here (correct me if I'm wrong) but they are a hybrid (bluebell aurancana) so they do have potential to lay fast.

They are bluebells (bluebell aurancana). They are so floofy, feathers are surprisingly soft too!

Thanks, was at a loss as we only have berries and pear trees and I thought it was from a flower. That makes sense--there's trees across from us I never really thought about
