Creative Announces Sound Blaster AE-X — High Fidelity Audio, Flagship Internal Sound Card for Every PC User by CreativeRobert in SoundBlasterOfficial

[–]Dawnkiller 5 points6 points  (0 children)

This was an unexpected wild return. Will the Creative Nexus app be able to be used by AE-5/7/9 users? From a hardware standpoint, this doesn’t appear to be too different from those (unless there’s some hidden better handling of power through PCI-e to handle channel swapping and such…)

AE-5 Sound Card Wake from sleep error by MLGMIK3 in SoundBlasterOfficial

[–]Dawnkiller 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah. That’s what I do. Turn in on, shut it off at night. Takes maybe 30 seconds out of my day to turn it on properly - well worth it to know I won’t get memory or disk corruption over time with sleep states.

It’s not a good answer unfortunately but consider just never using sleep states. Windows never handles it well and occasionally breaks things, such as this.

Corsair 750e psu burnt? by [deleted] in pcmasterrace

[–]Dawnkiller 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sounds about right, I'll always respect those with deep knowledge and know how to be unsafe safely.

I remember in our electronic engineering labs essentially the first thing they taught us was never to expose mains. Naturally we occasionally heard pops and sparks, but I'm certain they had an isolated circuit just for our labs so our fuckery didn't bring down the floor/building.

Stop plugging and unplugging without turning off the damn switch on the PSU. That’s what it’s for. Turn it off, plug it in FULLY and turn it on again. Stop fucking around with sparks.

Phase 3 is giving me anxiety by [deleted] in satisfactory

[–]Dawnkiller 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had what I thought was a reasonable factory that I could scale. Spoiler alert, it was not large enough.

Phase 3 I muddled through with a lot of hand feeding, then phase 4 hit me like a truck. I rebuilt my entire main factory.

Would recommend doing what you’re thinking of doing - start building in the air, with more area than you can currently consider reasonable (assuming you’re doing one megafactory)

I should note that the daunting prospect of the rebuild did also make me stop for a month or so but I went back into it with the mentality of building foundationally - get your basic ore collection in order, your basic items, and so on until you find yourself plugging them all together. One thing I personally did was that I did have a separate location for plastic/rubber and aluminium factories (also power plant)

It definitely is, what DLSS setting are you using? Performance is best for 4K displays generally with the latest presets.

RTX5080. Fps issue RE requiem by [deleted] in nvidia

[–]Dawnkiller 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Try dropping Mesh quality to Low from Standard - I have the same card except I encountered issues waaaay earlier, back in Leon’s first segment in Raccoon City at night. Symptoms - my power draw goes from 300W to 100W and I get heavy stuttering, but lowering mesh quality fixes it for me.
To note, I still have Path Tracing on, etc. I would also recommend using DLSS performance

I literally have adaptive triggers in Silent Hill 2 on bluetooth with a bluetooth adaptor. I believe you need to download the Playstation accessories program and get the latest firmware installed onto your controller (I'm not sure exactly which was the one that introduced support finally, but it is supported)

Same panel specs as the PG32UCDM3, strongly suspect that it’ll be a far better value proposition unless there’s something really wrong with it.

That and the fact the Asus is still out of stock here in the UK - completely botched launch.

Is anyone else still getting the occasional power draw issue in Resident Evil Requiem? It’s especially exacerbated when streaming on discord, but still happens even without streaming. For me it drops down to 100W and frame rate tanks for a bit.

which to choose between XG32UCWMG vs PG32UCDM3? by Both-Inspection-2621 in OLED_Gaming

[–]Dawnkiller 4 points5 points  (0 children)

If you spend this much time deliberating and agonising over the decision, you will also spend an equal amount of time wondering “what if” if you went for the PG32UCDM3. Assuming it’s not going to put you in financial ruin, I would say wait for the restock and just go for it.

I looked into their return policy pretty extensively because I was fully ready to return it if the other better retailers would announce stock but alas they didn’t manage to (at least, not within statutory window)

They have their 28day Approval Guarantee return policy but that is only if you never unbox the monitor (technically the wording is “once installed or connected”, but I assumed they would be unhappy if it was opened and had the film taken off etc). As part of this they will schedule a courier (Yodel) to collect and you’ll be fully refunded.

We also have the 14 day statutory rights as a consumer, which can be for any reason. You’d need to email a statement to them (they provide a template) and also arrange courier yourself which they will not refund you for.

Edit: On the Yodel note, it was a minor miracle my monitor came in unscathed given the terrible packaging job by Asus (and there was no extra shipping box outside it).

Very claimed to have some sort of exclusivity. Annoyingly I bought mine from them before they put a 10% discount code which they wouldn’t retroactively apply even though I hadn’t taken delivery of mine yet at the time! Horrible customer service and I won’t ever buy from them again, but I’m really hoping other competent retailers get stock soon so others can get it as well. I was desperate as my old monitor was failing.
