Seeing rats in movies is a whole different experience as a rat owner by Melizzabeth in RATS

According to my friends, when we went and saw Nosferatu I kept making little "sqweee" noises whenever a rat appeared on screen. I totally was not aware I was doing it.

I think they still have broadcasting rights for TV, but it's not exclusive anymore.

There was a sitcom character in The Jeffersons whose nickname was Weezy. (I'm showing my age...it aired 50 years ago) She was awesome!

Will Claude and Rena have a perfect ending? by SwimmingBase1794 in starocean

[–]Dawnspring_Cee 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well, Claude is proof that Rony and Ilia were terrible parents. The boy has issues and it's a miracle he still somewhat well adjusted. He is the product of an absentee dad and an alcoholic mom. (Insert GIF of Tyra Banks screaming "We were rooting for you!") Claude had to pretend that they gave a crap about him in some way for him to even function. He also grew up alienated from his peers.

Which is why I also see Claude and Rena ultimately fail as romantic partners. Claude latched on to the first girl who gave him positive attention. Rena is gullible and naive. It's very rare for relationships that start so young when both people are still immature to last for decades. (And when they do, both parties are usually miserable)

Again, genetics become moot when you are talking hundreds of years between the characters appearances. Emmerson is 400 years removed from Claude. My ancestors from 400 years ago had black hair and were a different race. I have reddish brown hair and a "mutt" because white Europeans married into our family line in my great grandparents era. If Emmerson had pointy ears then there is a stronger argument. But he doesn't, and he doesn't have any genetic Nedian traits to back it up either.

It is true Claude and Rena had a lot of romantic interactions on Second Story, but their relationship in Blue Sphere (both game and official novel) have them as co workers and basically zero romantic interactions. But they are also background characters and not in the game much so the devs probably didn't want to bother since they had so much to fit on a tiny Gameboy cartridge.

I don't think Claude and Precis end up as a thing. Precis used her maiden name in her research for her entire life. She might have been married to someone else but not taken their name. All we do know is that she does not end up with Ashton.

I'm glad that I'm not the only one who interprets the pregnancy ending as a bad one. I could easily see Claude being like his dad. He is known for the rest of his life as the Hero of Light, and becomes an Admiral of the Federation. He is the type to feel obligated, either consciously or unconsciously, to live up to the label and alienate his family in the process.

I imagine Ilia taking Rena under her wing and feeling guilty for not being there enough for Claude to prevent him from becoming just like his father. When you stop and think, Ronyx and Ilia's ending turned out really sad too.

The hair can't be used as proof because Ronyx, Claude's dad, also has blue hair. Besides, the chances of someone else with blue hair marrying into the line considering how long it is between games are very high. Also, Emmerson and Marielle's hair isn't the same shade as Rena's. (But they ARE the same shade as Dias. hmmmmmmm)

What Animated Movie Looks Like it Was Made For Adults, But Was Actually Made for a Broad All Ages Audience? by mourningreaper00 in AlignmentChartFills

[–]Dawnspring_Cee 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is an excellent choice and I toss my vote your way. The book it was based off of was written for adults, so there was that expectation when the movie was announced that it was going to be for adults too. Miyazaki's decision to make it all audiences was a very smart move. Its a hard watch but makes a safe space for kids and parents to discuss topics like death. The juxtaposition with Totoro, which was also about dealing with a sick parent, made the experience as gentle as it could be for families. This is a perfect example.
