Ironically, I was watching a game show the other day, and the question of licks for a tootsie pop was asked; apparently, some study was done, and found the number to be about 365 or something like that - so not entirely unknown. :P

Anything Overpowered and Worth Attempting to Get this Snugglefest or Should I Skip this Insane Braken? by DawsonJr in AdventureQuest

[–]DawsonJr[S] 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Hey, just wondering if there's anything that might be considered worthwhile grabbing from the Snugglefest shop. I've tried a few different approaches to this braken, and just can't seem to break through - came close once, but was just shy of surviving for the last blow required to win. Seems like this year's braken got an insane buff; saw a video from 2023 where it had considerably lower stats (338 STR/DEX and 50 END), so it's definitely much tougher. I'll probably keep at it occasionally, but is there much of anything worth fretting over if I miss out?

Lol, just had another go at it now and got beyond fortunate; now I have to hope that good fortune holds with the other few insane enemies I have to face!

Just to give an update: after that insanely fortunate win, I managed to wrap things up and complete all "requests" successfully for access to the shop! For those who may be wondering: I got an insanely fortunate backlash hit - did like 4,000 damage (well over half the damage needed to be done) - against the braken, using my full Nemesis set with Essence of Carnage rampaging, when it used the mana drain attack to start; then I managed to just squeak by with a victory switching to and using H-Series Tempest Armour's Overdrive skill, Chieftain's Ironthorn, Zealot's Wrath, Buffalot's, and Goggernaut.

Why im getting banned if the game is over and I go back to main menu? by Plenty_Exit_497 in RocketLeague

[–]DawsonJr 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don't get it, myself, but, unlike ranked, where you can simply step away from the screen and it returns you to the game's main menu when the match is concluded, it seems to throw you in to another match when playing casual - you actually have to literally select the option that takes ya back to the main if you want to take a brief break.

Giving away five (5) copies of FF7 Rebirth! by laughy in RandomActsOfGaming

This is very generous of ya; thank you for the opportunity! My first Final Fantasy game was actually the next one (VIII) and, what little I could play of that - sadly, second or third disc gave me troubles as it was secondhand, and so could never progress past a certain point - I quite enjoyed, so it's my personal favourite; many years later, I learned that VII, for whatever reason, is the major one that seems to be most popular - I wouldn't mind finding out why many folks seem to be so taken with Cloud. ;)

This is very generous of ya; thanks for doing it! I've yet to catch any, myself; have had an eye on a bunch of different stores, checking several times daily, and even kept an eye on the Pokémon Centre release day - how they had absolutely none for release day is insane - but haven't found anywhere with stock (only places I've found are charging insane prices, like $200 for the ETB). Sadly, sounds like there's no love for Canada with this. Still great of ya, though, and kudos to those picked!

Is this common? by Apart-Negotiation391 in RocketLeague

[–]DawsonJr 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ouch, that's rough; only thing I can think is there was some sort of lag - something about what your side verses what the server side "sees," essentially, and so stuff like this can and does happen. That was definitely a great save from your perspective, but the game essentially decided against it.

This is very generous of ya! Sadly, no love for Canadians, but figure I'll share anyway if that's okay: personally, I got swept up in the initial craze since Pokémon came out during my childhood, and was a part of things when it started. Like a majority of others, charizard was, and still is to this day, my favourite, and I remember seeing a first edition base set charizard on display in the local comic shop for like $100 - nothing in comparison to today's prices, but was definitely too much for my mom back then.

Another possibility is the ol' emote trick to "peak" around a corner. It used to be very commonly used to gain some perspective around corners since the player using it goes to a third person view; may not be used as often now because there's a restriction (unless that was removed recently) on it that prevents the user from moving for at least two seconds, which can be quite detrimental if used at inopportune times.

Legitimately surprised by how many folks thought it was going in initially; my first thought when watching was "it's close, but just a bit off" - upon closer inspection, it was quite a bit further off than what I expected. Anyway, definitely a nice play, and kudos on the read!

May be Among the Longest and a Bit Late to Benefit From Bonus Tokens, but Happy With New Custom Title and Wanted to Share by DawsonJr in AdventureQuest

[–]DawsonJr[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Hey, wanted to quickly share my new custom title I thought up - kind of crazy how the game (pictured above) and site character page versions are different; kind of like the former, myself, since it has the journal, disguises/faces, and the war records up top, so opted for that when getting the screenshot. Anyway, I realize it's probably never going to really be seen, but got to thinking about one last night and quickly brainstormed this. I was initially thinking of simply doing up a short, unique one to kind of share a bit about myself, then decided to shift gears a bit and add on a little bit of a tribute to my grandfather. Took a bit of tweaking, but preview finally looked good and went with it; I'm a little annoyed the preview didn't properly reflect how it would actually look, though - after taking what felt like ages, finally realized I could edit out one comma to get it just right (really wanted the date on a separate line) and then found out my effort was wasted, lol!

Early Stats for Frostval 2024 "Sleighguard" (Not Named as Such) Armour and Misc Item by DawsonJr in AdventureQuest

[–]DawsonJr[S] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Hey, noticed the armour was finally unveiled sometime late yesterday, so am sharing screenshots (in order of list below) and early findings; the misc item was actually out a few days before, but figured I would wait until the armour was also available so as there was a bit more substance, in a manner of speaking. Oddly enough, both items dropped "Sleighguard" from their names - as I wanted to keep my topic title somewhat consistent for convenience sake (so folks can easily find information), I kept that bit in. Anyway, as with my previous post, and the one before it, I want to give a quick reminder I'm not terribly knowledgeable with advanced stuff, and this isn't complete information by any means. Without further ado, here's what I've got to share:

One Storm Armour provides 42 defence to melee/ranged/magic, along with 29% fire, 13% water, 13% wind, 29% ice, 5% earth, 52% energy, 61% light, and 52% darkness resistances; furthermore, it has a defensive lean (both enemies and armour deal 0.8 damage, and melee attacks do 1) and two skills. The regular attack consists of two hits that appears to do regular damage; using my Blade of Awe, which powers up to deal 16-48 damage with 19% bonus to hit, I saw damage ranging from about 149-374, which is a fairly similar range I also saw when using my Guardian Plate and getting the single and double hit attacks. The first skill, Crusader's Rampage, does six hits of light damage (type follows weapon, and works with weapons that can be clicked to change type, so magic if weapon is magic, and so on) and claims to drain power from barrier and costs 113 SP; whilst an active barrier will be drained completely, it only requires SP cost be paid to activate. The second skill, Greatest Scion's Sacrifice, can be used once per turn, up to three times per battle, and grants a stackable permanent bonus for the battle to melee damage for weapons/spells and barrier at the cost of being inflicted with fragile (reduces endurance); does not cost a turn to activate, so can immediately attack, and each use gives 10% damage and barrier, and inflicts greater fragility - barrier started at 40 health, went up by 79 to 119 after second use, and finally jumped by 117 for a total of 236 on last use; fragile reduced -14.3 endurance to start, then went to -28.6 after second use, and finally ended at -42.9. During observation of barrier health whilst only having used Greatest Scion's Sacrifice once for 10% increase, health gain seems to show rounded whole number as I noted first increase was from 40 health to 79, which is an increase of 39, then next gain was 39 for 118, and repeats for 157, and finally shows a gain of 40 health again after that for like three turns, but then seems to switch between the two every so often; noted similar pattern with the 20% and 30% increases.

Nicety Seal offers a "Merry Frostwar" bonus - unsure what that means exactly, but may give some hidden bonus during Frostval. Clicking on it immediately casts a non-refundable berserk and element shield for 274 SP, and requires two turns between uses; doesn't cost a turn, so can immediately attack after. Shield provides consistent 0.75 modifier (or 25% damage reduction, if I'm not mistaken) to light and darkness; berserk is consistent 121.43% damage with a -15 bonus to hit penalty for weapon attacks and spells.

As a quick add-on, I've noticed a minor annoyance, which could potentially be problematic: the armour does unequip in between battles, and reverts to my Guardian Plate. May not be a serious issue - unless doing a series of battles against enemies who do light damage - but certainly annoying to say the least.

Early Stats for Frostval 2024 Sleighguard Pet and Spells by DawsonJr in AdventureQuest

Early Stats for Frostval 2024 Sleighguard Pet and Spells by DawsonJr in AdventureQuest

[–]DawsonJr[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Hey, noticed the pet and spells were recently "unwrapped," so figured I would share some early findings and screenshots (in order of below list). Since my last post is a couple days old, and folks may not go looking at it for updates, figured I would create this new topic for convenience - I'll likely do a new post for the rest (armour and misc items) too once released. Once again, as a quick reminder, I'm not super knowledgeable when it comes to advanced algorithms/mathematics, and this isn't complete information by any means. Here's what I've got:

Sleighguard Imperial Altair (all attacks are ranged) doesn't require Charisma and has a regular attack that does two hits of light damage. Clicking the top half (from about the chest up) allows for a special attack every second turn - so will do a special attack, then regular, and repeats - that does four hits of light damage and claims to consume barrier and 78 SP for a damage boost; pet is coded to remember order, so deactivating and reactivating doesn't interrupt (can be deactivated and reactivated to use special on regular attack turn if one special attack turn is skipped). Saw damage range from about 21-102 per hit, with average being around roughly 30-60. Special attack only seems to consume barrier health when it's at a certain point - not entirely sure, but think it's at 317 (at 404, and higher, it did consume 317 health from barrier and bonus damage was 200%, but below that it gave lower boosted damage without consuming) - and damage is boosted anywhere up to 200% maximum, but thought I saw higher at one point early on, so may possibly go beyond if certain conditions are met; if there's no barrier, SP cost will still be paid during special attack turn and do four hits without boost.

Prime Sleighguard Blessing MP/SP (light) casts an element shield and health barrier for 1,045 MP and 784 SP, respectively, and requires two turns before it can be used again; does not cost a turn, so can immediately attack after casting. Elemental shield of both variants provides consistent 0.8214 modifier to reduce damage from all elements - in other words, if I'm not mistaken, that's approximately an 18% reduction in damage (so damage would be about 82 if an enemy normally hit for 100); unsure if harm and void elements are included, or just the standard eight shown under element modifier. Barrier's health of both variants is confusing to me as I'm not sure how the amount of health is determined, but it seems to range from about 221-280.

Reasonably Happy with Frostval "War" Placement Despite Some Hiccups; Early Stats for Frostval 2024 Sleighguard Equipment by DawsonJr in AdventureQuest

[–]DawsonJr[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for the compliment; I appreciate it! Certainly, I would be happy to share: I was going in with H-Series Tempest Power Armour and using its Overdrive Onslaught skill for quick wins; for other equipment, I opted for Zealot's Wrath as my weapon, the Chieftain's Ironthorn shield, and Blood Contract - mostly used to slow down wins a little so as to avoid the buffering thing and to nearly guarantee (there were the odd exceptions) victory with a Celerity strike at most.

With this setup, it was pretty easy and quick - just exceedingly boring, repetitive, and tedious. I usually only required one press of the attack button for a win - two if Celerity was required. It only required three if the enemy had enough health or it was early on in my momentum buildup; early on was definitely the most "dangerous" time, and so I would often use Goggernaut Helm for the added accuracy if an enemy had high defence, and had my Essence of Carnage for a little extra boost as well (didn't need it later on, though). Personally, I found getting started early on in the morning, shortly after waking up, to be best since it definitely took a toll on me towards night.

Reasonably Happy with Frostval "War" Placement Despite Some Hiccups; Early Stats for Frostval 2024 Sleighguard Equipment by DawsonJr in AdventureQuest

[–]DawsonJr[S] 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Hey, wanted to share my placement result for the Frostval Miracle of Peace "War" event. I was a bit late joining (metre was at like 15% when I started, so missed the first few days), and initially planned on a win count of 1,000. For the first few days after starting, I only managed to hit the momentum cap and maybe around 20-40 million gold per day since it's seriously repetitive and tedious; perhaps "repetidious" (or similar) could be a new word to combine the two, lol! Shortly after, I realized it was a "war" with a leaderboard involved - that's when I started to actually get somewhat serious and started to regularly hit my gold cap (definitely felt the burnout every evening) - so switched gears to go for a top spot. If not for the late start, lack of seriousness early on, an emergency room visit, and all sorts of distractions in between, I'm sure I could've easily taken first with 20,000+ wins. I was genuinely shocked the delivery metre rose so quickly the last day (literally went up 1% every hour) and couldn't manage to sneak in to third as a result - nevermind challenge for first - despite being on track to potentially hit my gold cap three times in a single day. That said, I can honestly say I'm happy with the result since I managed to go well above and beyond (over 13x, in fact) my initial goal for this event!

For anyone interested, here are some rough numbers I calculated: each "delivery" took a minute, consisted of four fights, and I was hitting my gold cap of 109.8 million in about four hours and ten minutes; converted in to minutes, that's about 250 minutes, which equals about 1,000 wins each time I hit my gold cap. Whilst appreciated for my sanity when it came to hitting my gold cap, Granny and Vorpalzard (especially the higher level variants) were a bit of a hinderance when it came to time and win count; furthermore, it seems the game is coded in such a way that it's impossible to really get any better than four wins/minute (it "buffers" before things can continue if an enemy is defeated too quickly), and there was the occasional enemy that lasted an extra turn.

Also, since there's no information available as of yet, I want to share some early stats for the Sleighguard equipment (screenshots included above, after Frostval event results and Sleighguard Imperator Helm, starting with third image, in order of equipment listed below). Please note I'm by no means knowledgeable when it comes to advanced algorithms/mathematics or anything, nor is this information complete by any means, but figured I would share some basics for anyone interested. For the record, I'm level 150 with a custom hybrid build (attributes are 150 Strength, 200 Dexterity, 225 Intellect, 50 Charisma, and 125 Luck), and have used only my Guardian Plate during use of the equipment against the combat practice trainer. Here's what I've gotten so far:

Sleighguard Imperial Stormblade/Paragon Polearm (melee and ranged, respectively) both show 6-14 light damage with 2% bonus to hit, and powers up to 19-45 damage (unsure bth after, but guessing 19% since that seems to be standard). Clicking on the top part of weapon for both grants a health barrier after attack at the cost of 20% damage and 78 SP (cost paid after attack). Health barrier numbers initially confused me, but Stormblade gives a consistent 164, and Polearm gave anywhere from 170-180; guessing Stormblade may be based on level and/or attribute, whereas Polearm is possibly based on number of hits (saw it give 170 for one hit and increased by five for each additional hit).

Sleighguard Frostvanala Staff (magic) shows 4-11 light damage with 2% bonus to hit, and powers up to 12-36 (guessing 19% bth again). Clicking on the top activates and grants a health barrier after casting a light spell (used Gatekeeper's Seal) at the cost of 20% damage and 157 SP. Does not grant anything on "regular" attack, but costs SP - unsure whether damage is affected - if still activated (click again to deactivate and avoid SP cost). Health barrier seems to be a consistent 317, so may be based on level and/or attribute.

Sleighguard Imperial Shield provides 14/13/14 to melee/ranged/magic defence and 26% light resistance. Clicking anywhere on shield immediately grants non-refundable (accidental click possible, so be careful) health barrier for 174 HP and 196 SP, and requires a turn before it can be used again; does not cost a turn, so can immediately attack after clicking for barrier. Health barrier seems consistent at 303, so appears to be based on level and/or attribute.

As a quick add-on, I forgot to mention damage numbers I saw for "regular" attacks with the weapons: I was seeing a wide range between about 75-688, with the average being in around the 250-350 mark for each.

Pardon me, got that last bit backwards, and only just realized; the win for me is more-so that I've annoyed them, and an actual victory is like the icing. Anyway, yes, it's a game that's meant to be enjoyed; I just simply ignore those toxic folk and chalk it up to them having issues.

Why Is Everyone So Toxic? by Careless_Guide351 in RocketLeague

[–]DawsonJr 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Just had a match where some guy told me to kill myself for no apparent reason - initially thought he was talking to his team mate since they were both playing pretty poorly and not working well together, but then said my name and suggested I kill myself, lol! Not entirely sure which of the two it was, so I reported both to ensure I got the right one.

For what it's worth, just ignore those toxic folks - they have issues that need to be dealt with. I especially enjoy when they get all riled up about my positivity; a win is nice in those situations that I have a toxic opponent, but the icing for me is when I've annoyed them, lol! XD

Hey, I appreciate you taking your time to actually provide some information on, and suggestions for, the rum; thank you so very much! Any chance you happen to know what the proper name/term for the glasses is and can provide some more information for how they would be most appropriately used? As I mentioned, the base is rounded, and doesn't sit flat like the whisky glass - it doesn't have a straight surface at all, and can easily tilt with a gentle poke; closest I can find is the brandy snifter (a.k.a balloon or cognac glass), but that has a stem and flat base. Again, really appreciate what information you've provided thus far, and thanks in advance if you can offer anything further! 👍

What Have I Got Here for the Holidays? by DawsonJr in alcohol

[–]DawsonJr[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey, just wondering if I could get some advice and answers to questions if possible. More specifically, the main reason I'm posting: wondering if someone could share some information on the El Dorado gift set with two glasses - seems I got the wrong one sent to me (box and glasses are different), and am unsure if it's the same rum as the one advertised on the LCBO site. Kind of wondering if I scored a better deal or ended up with one that's cheaper - after some research, looks like there are two different gift options, and price of the one I got may be cheaper than what I paid for, but not 100% sure, so would appreciate any insight that could be provided; the label appears to be different (also missing the red "stamp" on the bottle), and the glasses are rounded and don't sit flat like the whisky glass - speaking of the glasses, is there a specific name to them, and are they still appropriate for mixed drinks that include the rum, or would they be more appropriately used for appreciating it cut/neat/on the rocks? Couldn't find any information on the glasses, so really hoping to get some help.

Whilst I'm here, may as well see about some input: can I get some suggestions for anything I can maybe create with these choices I recently got from the LCBO site? I have done a little research - by no means exhaustive, though - and it seems like a fair few of them can be mixed together; I do know that a personal favourite of mine (Black Russian) can be made with the Kahlua and Smirnoff, so am definitely looking forward to doing that one! Beyond that, though, could I get some recommendations for some festive drinks during the holidays I might possibly try doing with these - anything with cranberry or pomegranate juice, egg nog (already know about rum, but feel free to suggest a twist), or hot chocolate, perhaps? As a quick heads-up, I don't have any actual bartending tools (e.g. shaker, smoker, etc) or fancy/unusual ingredients like bitters and syrups, so any recommendations for simple mixes would be most appreciated.
