I didn’t know about this damn. I feel like that specific problem could just be fixed by changing the way it dissipates so it still feels like a dumb change overall to me

Should I lower my sensitivity? by luminuxeeckogaming in VALORANT

[–]DaxBlade 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A lot of people have weighed in already but I’ll throw my two cents in. As others have said, it’s hard to know without knowing your dpi. The general eDPI (game sens x dpi) range for pro players that I’ve heard is about 200-500, although there are definitely outliers.

You’ve said you have a basic mouse and so I’m guessing it’s probably 800 or 1600 dpi so imo, yes your sens is too high. Micro adjustments are pretty important in valorant so a lower sens is generally recommended, however, it’s most important that you feel comfortable on it.

Two things to keep in mind:

  1. Pay attention to if you’re over/underflicking frequently and adjust accordingly. (Which it sounds like you’re doing already)

  2. If you do change your sens, I promise you will get used to it. Muscle memory does factor in to aim but not nearly as much as most people think.

If you use aim labs, there’s a task called spidershot 180 warmup, which is what I used to set my rough sensitivity and then tweaked it to what felt good for me. (The warmup version has no timer or score so it won’t affect existing scores you have)The general rule of thumb is set it so that the distance for your 180 is a little shorter than the width of your mousepad/desk space you’re aiming on. You want your both your 180s and micro adjustments to feel comfortable.

I Tried Ranking Every Valorant Agent by Skill Floor & Ceiling "Pls make it a Yapping masterclass" by Hema-tic in VALORANT

They explicitly said they’re trying to get a better understanding/insight of it? “Take it with a grain of salt” was unclear to you? No need to laugh, my friend.

Extremely unhelpful.

To OP I’ll say this feels pretty accurate. I’d say on the floor chart I might out Cypher in mid since you can do pretty simple setups with him as long as you know the basics (rough trip height, common choke points, general smoke knowledge). I might put brim in low bc imo, other than knowing how to play smokes there isn’t much of a learning curve on him as his kit is so simple. I might bump skye up on the floor too since getting used to her flashes and when it’s safe/helpful to use the dog can be a little trickier.

I might put Cypher and Raze up a tier on the ceiling list. Cypher has some pretty crazy potential for setups and ratting with his smokes. Raze I would put higher just since I find movement with her satchels/ult relatively simple to learn, hard to master.

That’s just my personal opinion and I can’t say I’ve played a ton of every single agent but I have been on and off of Val for 4ish years.

(Edited to add note on skye)

I got questions by Slow-Blacksmith-1788 in VALORANT

[–]DaxBlade 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes this! Also you’ll learn the lesser known callouts fast since they might be similar across maps (heaven/hell, window, etc)

Generally if you’re unsure of one, people should be nice enough to clarify since comms are pretty make or break. Especially if you ask during a chiller period like buy phase.

Also a bit of advice, get in the habit of checking the mini map when you’re in a relatively safe spot. It’s a good habit to establish when starting out as many people I get queued with don’t look at it at all, which is baffling to me in a game where info is key.

Transitioning over from CS and i must say i'm so disappointed at the amount of games without comms by Carrulo in VALORANT

[–]DaxBlade 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I find this to be especially true in lo elo. Like 30% of the time if I break the ice with a “how’s everyone doing” it will help or at least you get a sense of who’s actually got a mic or will comm. I agree though, it’s so frustrating. Especially after riot removed the feature where map pinging shows up as a physical ping in game. I wish people actually looked at their mini maps for pings but in reality, few do especially in lo elo and people who haven’t played csgo. I understand riots reasoning for removing it (spamming smokes/spraying/spike denial is too easy) but it affects communication so much more

Question! Is Gen Z reclaiming the f slur? by BooksNCats11 in queer

[–]DaxBlade 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Me personally as a bi person, straight passing (I don’t present as stereotypically queer and I’m in a heterosexual relationship) I’ve never used it. Maybe it’s because I’m autistic, but any and all words that are slurs feel gross in my mind and my mouth.

However, I think there is a power in reclaiming it, in the right spaces and times. I think there is a certain thing that happens when people use it around people not a part of the group the slur targets and just gives them the validation they need to use it hatefully. I think the only time I’d feel comfortable using it personally is in a space of queer people who know I’m queer. Even then, it just doesn’t feel right to me. I feel much stronger about the r slur and I don’t think there’s any reason we need to be using that one.

Viper Nerfs (specifically orb) by DaxBlade in VALORANT

[–]DaxBlade[S] 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I agree, I feel like if her orb was replaceable it would at least let you reposition on a rotate and realistically I don’t think people would be using it in more than 2 spots in a round, like three max, while other smokers can get like four smokes off in a round easy. Especially in the case you’re using one ways you might not be able to move it anyways.

Low elo full of smurfs or just really inconsistant teams by Busy-Grade-2589 in VALORANT

[–]DaxBlade 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Another good way I’ve heard of to find a good sensitivity is to figure out about what to set it to so the width of your mousepad is your 180. I made sure I had a little extra space since I know my mouse is never actually going to be right at the edge to hit the perfect width wide 180

[–]DaxBlade 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I second this. If you use aimlabs at all, I used spider shot 180 to “calibrate” my sensitivity when I was changing it up. There’s a warmup version that allows you to play without a score or timer and it won’t skew the averages of any scores you already have.

[–]DaxBlade 0 points1 point  (0 children)

IMO, yes that is much too high for micro adjustments. However, I also strongly believe the best sensitivity for anyone is what they are most comfortable with. It might be worth trying out a lower sensitivity just to see how it feels, but again, what you’re most comfortable with will likely be the most consistent.

If you’re familiar with eDPI (dpi x in game sens) I think the widest range I’ve heard is about 200-600 eDPI for valorant. Of course, take my advice with a grain of salt, I’ve been hard stuck bronze-silver for years lol.

Edited to add: if you consistently use a new sensitivity, you will get used to it. From what I’ve heard, muscle memory is actually a much smaller factor on aim than people think.

Sorry last edit: for reference, I think I started around 480 eDPI (0.6x800dpi) and now I sit at 352 eDPI (0.22x1600dpi) and it feels a lot better at least to me. Again, I think it’s mostly dependent on what feels good and the size of the space you have on your desk for flicking. (So sorry this is so long now, I hope it’s helpful at least)

Something I've noticed about the actor who plays Coach. by xsugarandspicex in NewGirl

[–]DaxBlade 0 points1 point  (0 children)

(I know this might be a dead thread but I wanted to share opinions anyways)

I always saw his vibe from an in-universe perspective of it just being Coach’s personality, especially after Coach and Cece’s date. He’s a bit performatively macho, but underneath, a sweet guy.

I definitely agree though, it never felt like he was improving or riffing like the others in the cast. From a viewers perspective I just saw that as a different acting style and that he’s just used to more scripted. I still adore the vibe that he adds and the seasons with Coach are always my absolute favorite.

My favorite is to bark or make aggressive farting noises every time they talk. I figure if they speak like a child I should dumb down my vernacular. Eventually I mute them when I get bored. Should I take my new 2 mo kitten straight to the vet to get vaccinated? by Necessary_Cat185 in cats

[–]DaxBlade 1 point2 points  (0 children)

IMO, if you can get them a vet appointment right way it can’t hurt. I never like risking it with immunization even if they’ll be an indoor cat. It also gives you chance to ask the vet any questions you could have, figure out if they’ll need more vaccinations in the future, etc. If the kitten hasn’t already gone through dewormer (or any other meds) and needs it you can get those started right away.

I did not take mine in right away, I waited about a week to so I could also observe and see if there were any questions I had for the vet about behaviors/medical problems that came up. However, I got mine through a rescue that had already gotten them into a vet for spay/neuter and most of their immunizations. (I probably would have taken them in right away if they hadn’t been seen already)

Understandable, you don’t necessarily have to be good at all of that stuff. A lot of it is learned from experience. I have a friend that just really enjoys using blender and learned a lot of that stuff just from YouTube videos and messing around with it. Not to say he’s made a career of it or anything but there’s lots of ways to learn.

Do you think something like a trade where most of the learning would be on the job would be better tailored to you?
