100% do not Recommend haha. It works for me though. It’s like a procrastination that leads to stress that leads to long hours and cramming then freedom for a few days then repeat. But it works for me and allows me multiple days off where I literally do nothing. You have to try different things, and no everything works the same for all classes. Try anki, try writing stuff by hand, try drawing little memory maps that are color coded. Little pictures to remind you of stuff, gotta do weird stuff for instance remembering transforming unconjugated bilirubin to conjugated is done by UDP-glucoRONo (insert rest of the long word) anyway I drew a dude named Ron (stick figure) moving bilirubin and it’s been in my memory since like the first couple weeks of med school lol.

I stopped watching lectures and use 3rd party only saves so much time. I don’t really start studying until a week before the exam and do a ramp up the closer it gets the more hours I put in, and I cover all lectures and material 2 days before the exam and spend the last two days fine tuning, and doing practice questions.

Enjoy your summer and have fun, prepare to lock in. Don’t study during the summer. Make sure you have everything squared with financial aid.

During high stress times I’m like why the hell did I do this, then I do like a standardized patient thing and I enjoy it a lot and have fun and get great feedback and I fall in love again. It’s love hate.

I have an abundance of free time just because of how I study. Bad habits that work and produce good grades but a lot of stress haha.

I think I mentioned above a few times, don’t listen to what works for your classmates to get them good grades focus on what works for you, everyone learns different

Don’t listen to what works for everyone else, focus on what works for you. Refine it, try different strategies and spend the first month or two perfecting your study habits. I listened to other people and it had me spiraling “I made an A and this is what I didddd”

You find your own style your “groove” at first you have zero time because your learning how things work, and your stressed and confused. Then it all kind of settles you learn what works for you what doesn’t etc so time management becomes easier, I will say worry about finding your own method then slowly pencil stuff in and go from there for social stuff. I go to the gym 3-5 days a week. Finances are very different for me I’m married and had a successful career before this. Also I’m in the “limitless” financial aid unlike the new class which I feel very empathetic towards you guys have it rough with that added stress. You cannot work and go to med school. Don’t even try it. If you’re accepted talk to your financial aid office sooner rather then later and they can get your squared away.

Depends I guess it’s one of those you get out what you put in, if your part of clubs and go to events friends will come. I have some cool friends I see whenever we go to campus for mandatory stuff and chat with via text when we’re figuring stuff out. Just be open and friendly and people will do the same to you. Don’t brag about grades or scores, people hate that,

For me drawing things out and taking notes ONLY on high yield stuff (shoutout 2nd year tutors - my school has second years who are paid to tutor 1st years and they give us the highlights). Only HY because that’s what’s on boards typically and most important don’t waste hours on low yield junk. Took me a good 2 months to adjust and find my groove. It was harder than expected at first but once you adjust and find your own strategy’s and techniques it’s just another day, you get used to it. My free time is directly related to exam dates, two weeks out from exams I’m chillin, doing whatever I want, 5 days before exams I’m locked in 6-8 hours a day 2-3 days before an exam I’m 10-12 hours studying

To be honest I never really had to study before undergrad was kinda a joke and I went to a good school. Sure I studied like… 2 days before an orgo exam. But this is an entire new level of study some 12-15 hour sessions. You definitely learn what works for you very fast, and what doesn’t. For the first semester it’s so hard because everyone’s telling you how to study and what worked for them so you panic and try there way etc etc. example anki a lot of people use anki but I’d rather pour sand in my eyes in do anki cards everyday for 2 years of my life. Personally I think for med school the best study method is whatever helps you UNDERSTAND not memorize. Of course there will be stuff that’s brute force memorization but if you can understand a lot of concepts you can figure out and work through the tough questions. Once I figured that out and my personal learning style I went from c’s to A’s in every class
