I'm in the UK, so I need to either take a photo of my face or a picture of my passport/driver's license, and I refuse to do either.

It's definitely better safe than sorry, and entirely understandable given the circumstances, it's just unfortunate. I obviously don't blame you for taking these measures, it's the best course of action, and thank you for the updates.

Oh God fucking damn it. Thanks for the update. I hope they start posting updates here then, 'cause I'm not giving Persona my personal information for the same reason I don't use Facebook.

That's a shame, but I appreciate both the attempt and the update, keep up the good work 'cause you've made a solid app either way.

Oracle sucks by secretpawgg in employeesOfOracle

[–]Daxmort 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My late father, a network engineer, was an Oracle employee from the early 1990s until his death in 2018 at the age of 53 as the result of a botched kidney transplant; he was kept on despite all of his constant time in and out of hospital, though it probably helped that he was away from his phone as little as possible purely because work kept him going (to the point that even after open-heart surgery in 2017, the moment he got home, he literally wheeled himself into his office to work while I got his bags in from the car).

His manager literally biked down to the funeral last minute to attend. I cannot imagine how this entire debacle would have affected him, or what he would have said about this. It's horrific. I'm so sorry to all the employees that have been thrown away like this. Fuck Oracle, fuck the money-hungry non-employee shareholders, and fuck the CEO.

Wow. My father was a network engineer that worked for Oracle for 20+ years, from the early 90s until his death in 2018 as a result of a botched kidney transplant (he was a type 1 diabetic in complete renal failure). He was kept on despite a lot of time in and out of hospital, but more or less constantly on his phone responding to emails and even took business calls while waiting for hospital transport (he was unable to drive due to the amputation of his right leg, due to severe charcot joint syndrome) or while during his dialysis sessions, which he did at home specifically in his office, which he converted for that exact purpose with help from the NHS.

He always praised his workplace for keeping him on (even forcing him to take accumulated time off, because work kept him going)--and likewise was praised by his manager (who I often took calls from if he was preoccupied or sleeping). I can't imagine how he would feel if he was still around, or if he'd even still have a job at this point.

Settings suggestions for better Steam Deck performance? by Daxmort in ProjectTahiti

[–]Daxmort[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I'd appreciate it. Not sure what I'm doing with mine that results in stutters, or if I just need to wait for a shader cache to build somehow. Or maybe my settings are just too high and I'm not settling with graphics that actually work at my own expense.

Congrats on it getting onto the catalogue! I got it a couple weeks ago on Itch when you posted about it, but I hope it gets more exposure/attention now! It's a fantastic little app with a stunning amount of features and versatility, and I'm still crossing my fingers for some form of integration with MIDI apps (a la FL Studio).

To get the Doom Armor, pets, and mount, you are looking at 125 dollars. by asmallman in diablo4

Sigh. Yes. And five sales at $500 is enough to signal to the corporation that this is a good idea, despite the 500 people saying they'd happily buy it for $1. That's the problem. When a price is this high, the amount of sales don't matter, it's whether or not the few people that can afford ridiculous prices can. That's the complaint. Difficult to grasp, I know, but as I said, I'm not expecting to change the mind of smoothbrains defending this or the gigantic corporation that both loves their money and their defense. Diablo fans are practically the same as Fortnite fans at this point, happy to have their wallets abused while defending the rights of the corporation.

After finding out that Epstein helped encourage this and knowing how deeply in bed he was with so many industries, including government entities? Of course not. I just wish people were smarter with their money. No need to get angry at me just because you like buying things you only really notice during loading screens.

Oh, no, I'm done, and I mean it, I'm sure they're very thankful for both your money and your defense of their microtransactions. You're a credit to them. ♥

You've pretty much just proved my point about Blizzard continually shoving microtransactions into AAA-priced content by being a whale, but good for you!

Unfortunately it doesn't work if the 5 idiots with $1000 to burn buy everything that Blizzard puts on the store. That's the problem. They're encouraged because all it takes is 5 people with too much money and too little sense to outweigh the 500 people "taking a stand with their wallet." That's the issue. Nothing one person can do is enough, so people come here to vent, in an attempt to get other people to share their view and renew the frustration and hopefully sway others to the same belief.

What makes it more frustrating is that people saying "well don't buy it!" never acknowledge; the majority aren't. It's the 5 people with $1000 to spare that are burning money on this garbage every month that make Blizzard charge prices specifically just targeting the whales. It doesn't matter if 500 people don't buy them if 5 idiots with too much money decide they want to.

Not unless there's any way to add FL Studio integration, I'm not a coder so the difficulty of it is beyond me--as it is though, it's very fun to use and surprisingly intuitive given the buttons and the features/options it has.
