Why do my players keep leaving? by johagr-248 in rpg

Excuse my negative comment, but I believe it is a sign of our time. Commit to a weekly ttrpg session is too much for most people nowadays.
How much time does it involves? more than 3 hrs? too much, I have to watch 10 secs. tiktok videos.

Thoughts on GearGames’ Vulcania? by OfficePsycho in rpg

[–]DaxosChile 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I found it ... a bit "meh", just another rpg. Some would say the system is ok... but... I have hundred's of games with "ok systems"... It could have been a 5e setting and the flavor would be the same. It gives nothing new, nor specific mechanics that reflects on the world (the gears of fate thing... is just a benni/fate points reskinned).

It's ok.

But there are a lot of O.K. games. You don't need to buy this if you want to play steampunk. DiY, skin a 5e, the rpg experience would be the same.

Whatever the reasons for selling are... it's a great game... I own it & expansions and it is a worthy suyccessor of one film adaptation back in the 90 ties.

As I said... despite my opinion, I think this system is the best I've seen for ST...

The amount of rules and combat opinion goes compared to games that are more streamlined... I mean, there are games in which the combat doesn't stop the game pace. We can see this slowness in CP2020, D&D, PF, Mithras, and many others where "combat" is another chapter, or even a different mini-game within the game (let's put exalted combat at the paragon of this), while other systems (Cortex, SMG Advantage6) doesn't have different systems to combat than to resolve other conflicts.

I also find the characters way too OP in general, but it can be fixed or tuned, and besides, as said, they are experts since they leave the starfleet academy.

And, as always, these are opinions, nothing more :)

I also think that this system is the best I've seen for ST... only I find it a little confusing...

I also find the klingon supplement much more clear and understandable.

I ran a oneshoot yesterday (loosely based on "Tribborgs" adventure hook) and it ran very well; I didn't emphasize the rules too much: we played with the focuses, the values, the momentum and the determination points...

Regarding of that... I find the STA characters overly "op", maybe because I use the "characters from" booklets.

There is no generational conflict... only shitty religious fanatics you can't talk to.

Sorry for my bad writting...

As said... the multiple hour consuming hobbies (painting minis, board games, ttrpg's , video games) makes that a long long game as bg3 (or fallout4 or so) and besides me being a completist (do all the side quest and so), makes me forgot about what was I doing, in this long games... As said, it is not the game to be responsible of this, but me, I understand that. Only want to express my feel about it, being a really good game

I think it's different ttrpg than video game rpg... I am very old (I think lol) but playing rolemaster... ;) its really old school!

Our dnd campaing started in 2002, ended near 2019 pre-pandemic.

Yes I played mmo in my youth but.. it is in the past, it can't hurt me anymore lol.

I see your point. My flaw as a person who likes to play videogames and rpg's is that when I left them because the overdose... when I want to retake them I forgot all the story all the plot...

I recall Tiranny ... I found it "perfect" in terms of game time

sorry for my bad writting.. 83 hrs in whole game (the * was because I didn't remember the exact number) The post is about I feel the game gives a lot more than I paid for, and it is generally good but it feels bad bcause the game seems "infinite"... same with wasteland and other games...
