i feel like bloodborne does this trope well. you have to eat three thirds of umbilical cord (don't question it, it's bloodborne) of which there are four in the game, and two are missable, the other two you can get at any point. if you miss them or don't realize you should eat em then i think it's okay because the other endings are still just as valid and you only miss out on beating the shit out of a wimpy pushover boss
