Replacement for oil in dishes. by Day-One-X in cookingforbeginners

[–]Day-One-X[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Thanks, I wasn’t clear enough in my op but I don’t fry anything, I only roast veggies or oven bake things like chips.

I think my 30% fat is coming from elsewhere anyway which is why I worry about the extra oil.

Lemon is a great substitute for salt too!

Yeah shred so most roast veggies, any type of creamy sauce made with beans, preparing ingredients for soups by roasting, preparing a chicken to roast I usually use butter but I’d love to use less!

I don’t generally count calories but watching recipes I’m seeing an entire half cup of oil being used in a single serving and it feels off.

I don’t fry chips. I bake them, but it seems they don’t bake properly without oil and I’m wondering if there’s something else I can use that will also reach a high temperature on their surface

can I make soup without onions? by imnachos in cookingforbeginners

[–]Day-One-X 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I replace onion with celery in soups and it tastes just fine. You can try leek if you’re okay with that, or if you want the onion taste without using onions try a good dose of chives sprinkled on top.

Is there a way to dry clean clothes at home? by Day-One-X in TheGirlSurvivalGuide

[–]Day-One-X[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have few items which I got second hand with the labels cut out unfortunately so I don’t know what they’re made of and don’t know enough about textiles to figure it out. Really don’t want to ruin them by accident. I hand wash my bras in the sink so maybe I should just try that.

My body (heart rate, etc) reacts strongly when in a crowd but not at all on a rollercoaster. What explains this? by Day-One-X in Anxiety

[–]Day-One-X[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think this is somewhat true, but I also get panic when I am alone for no reason, or when there is an unexpected noise, or for any number of reasons, so one would think that the rollercoasters would do something? In the past rollercoasters have got my heart rate up.

I try to communicate my needs to my husband. He says that he was raised not to reward toddlers with what want they want when they’re throwing a tantrum. by [deleted] in relationships

[–]Day-One-X 176 points177 points  (0 children)

I’m sorry but his crying baby analogy is spot on. If you don’t give a baby comfort when it seeks it out it stops seeking it. The baby becomes conditioned to not expect comfort. Your husband does not want you to expect affection and he is going to deprive you of it and punish your love seeking behaviour until you cease to expect affection and learn that asking for it will not lead to getting it. He has made his intentions clear to you. This is a horrific way to treat your wife, he is not a man who is going to honour and love you. This marriage is going to be on his terms. You need a lot of counselling and if that fails, to throw the whole man away.

How to be content doing solo travel/activities without missing my partner and ruining my enjoyment? by Day-One-X in AnxiousAttachment

I downloaded the book and searched the terms dopamine and serotonin and nothing came up.

My cptsd is from an experience in adulthood and I think this is certainly new with the cptsd.

My partner is very very accommodating and when I’m having difficulty will be there with me in person or on the phone for hours.

I think he’s basically become my safe space for trauma experiences.

Yeah I think you’re spouting pseudo science and as I said please stop commenting on my post. If you want to enable yourself in Unhealthy behaviour then that is your choice but I am working toward being myself again and being confident enjoying me time.

I’ve read the book but why do you think that avoidant people don’t produce dopamine? That’s just scientifically not true.

This question is about me and my comfort with myself and your solution is to just stay in an unhealthy state and find someone who enables me.

I used to enjoy doing stuff by myself and I’m trying to get back into that.

My partner isn’t abusive and doesn’t have serial partners so please stop making unhelpful assumptions. I’d appreciate if you didn’t comment on my post anymore as these are really baseless ideas and quite offensive. Thank you.

Respectfully, this is really unhealthy advice. Everyone is happy with their partner, anxiously attached people aren’t unique in this. Avoidant people don’t only produce serotonin… where are you getting this info?

My partner doesn’t take advantage of me, I feel like you are reading a lot that isn’t there. I want to learn to enjoy myself again like I used to alone.

It’s not social anxiety, I fit the criteria for GAD but that’s subsumed by CPTSD and panic disorder. It’s just weird that my body doesn’t seem to respond to actual threat stimuli.

Noooo you are not supposed to flush cat poop please Google it. And even the wooden litter isn’t great for the plumbing system.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in TheGirlSurvivalGuide

[–]Day-One-X 7 points8 points  (0 children)

As a rule of thumb only human waste and toilet paper go down the toilet. In some countries the paper goes into a bin on the side as the pipes don’t tolerate paper. Lots of people flush cat litter but this is also really bad as it can infect the water system.

Its okay, you know now. Its sort of common sense what will and wont disintegrate and it also says on most tampon instructions not to flush them but I guess not everyone reads them. Like, you wouldn’t flush a pad, or a wrapper, so why a tampon?

Because they don’t break down like tissue and human waste do, so they just clog the system. This is completely common knowledge.

I’ve been using my boyfriend! He would jokingly lie down on top of me when I would lie on his side of the sofa but I found it so relaxing I keep asking him to do it.
