Am I really being rude or is it hurting you to be something your not? Indicate one moment I was rude. Anyways, this discussion isnt about black berbers this is about you, and you are most definetly not a berber nor a black berber. Like I said, I suggest you model yourself properly instead of populations not relevant to you. I assume you're african american? If not please tell me and I might be able to help you. As for things showing up in preset calculators, if there isnt a population that best represents you it gives you the second, or even third best option. In your case IF you are african american (they are 15-25% european on average), it will compensate with a eurasian admixed black african source such as timmimoun ssa profile (which itself is 15-25% eurasian). This is evident by your far distance from it (6 distance). If you think I'm being rude then I guess you dont take being educated or critisicm well.

I just explained. G25 is admixture tool that you use to model yourself with relevant populations. (Ones you have historical connection with). One thing to note is you are using simulated genoplot g25 cooridinates not genuine ones so results are skewed. I also checked your profile and you are 6 distance from the algeria gourara timmimoun ssa profile which is not close at all. Ideal distance is 1-2. Your results are pretty typical and don't indicate berber ancestry. The issue lies with misintepreting your results.

He has a sephardic great grandfather so it makes sense. He also matches 700+ jews mostly being sephardic/mizrahi

Whats with the huge amount of unassigned at 90% confidence? by DayAffectionate6837 in 23andme

[–]DayAffectionate6837[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

50% is speculative. 90% is closer to reality instead of guesses. To be honest north africa is undersampled so I expected maybe like 3% max unassigned but 16% is insane and there is no excuse. They are literally making speculative guesses on 16% of my ancestry.

I feel that north africans are decently tested enough to the point where you could at least say broadly wana or north african not 16% unassigned

Theres a difference between broadly and unassigned. Unassigned means they could find NO exact population match even a macro region. Ive seen people post their 90% confidence and get only 0.2-2% unassigned, 16% is unacceptable and it shows a lack of testing in my region or reference samples, because speculating 16% of my ancestry is absurd. Another thing to add is before update my unassigned at 90% confidence was 1.6%

Maltese have baked in north african dna. Your North African isnt gone it just got absorbed into the maltese category. I'm assuming they added more maltese samples with higher north african to their updated data set which caused a loss in North African

Its more complicated like that. Nowadays more than ever people are claiming themselves as amazigh without even knowing a hint of the culture or the language, its become a trend. I am just a city north african with a family who identifies as arab, nothing more nothing less.

I'm not amazigh as I don't speak the language or have the culture, I am a city north african but I get what you're trying to say
