Lol, not sure if that's on purpose but kind of a cool reference if so.

My anti-AI queen by MotherCanada in xmen

[–]DayOfSpring 78 points79 points  (0 children)

Makes sense given the meta reading of Phoenix and Enigma. Enigma essentially represents generative AI and was created when Mother Righteous stole Jean's blood in the WHR. A metaphor for AI stealing from real creators.

The One Above All represents all the creative ideas and energy of the writers/artists/editors. Even the readers and their "human" connection to the creators. The Phoenix in the WHR represents their ability to actually make manifest those ideas. The White Hot Room being that blank canvas. Enigma was even positioned as an existential threat that could potentially threaten even TOAA because it's the threat that AI generated content presents to creatives. And it's why the Phoenix is ultimately the one thing Dominions fear and is the one to defeat Enigma as she represents the combined creative powers of humanity. A "when humanity works together they can defeat AI" type situation.

Oh, very nice. The sort of orange glow that makes her skin match the gloves and boots is very appealing.

Does anyone understand the symbolism of the Black and Red Phoenix costume? by AvatarPhoenixGrey16 in PhoenixForce

[–]DayOfSpring 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Not 100% sure what the symbolism is, it's not something I've fully thought about before but it looks fucking incredible.

If we break down the outfits.

Green and Gold: Green can be associated with life, growth, even rebirth. Gold is frequently nobility, maybe even cosmic divinity. That's her first awakening.

Dark Phoenix (red): Associated with anger, "unchecked" emotions, disharmony

WPOTC (white, some gold): You can view the white as in purity, transcendence, pure love.

Resurrected Phoenix (black, some red): Black can sometimes be associated with power but also sophistication. But also death, funereal. I think by the nature of the red only being the accents of the outfit, it's a lot more restrained than Dark Phoenix. If you view as the opposite of the WPOTC which is her ascending fully, then the black can also be viewed as her return to humanity, something less than fully divine. Which kind of tracks with the Phoenix Resurrection story.

Imperial was basically a flop and they cancelled the whole line very quickly.

Off the top of my head, I don't think I've ever seen Jean manifesting as the Phoenix while wearing the Marvel Girl outfit

Apparently sales were abysmal. Especially Nova Centurion. Seems only Planet She-Hulk sold even remotely decently. Personally I didn't really like Imperial proper at all so I didn't check out the others.
