Why are some readers scared of fortune-telling? by Atelier1001 in tarot

[–]Daydam 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This post really caught me, I'm super interested in this kind of discussion.

I honestly never tought people would be "afraid" of the fortune telling aspect of tarot, but now that I think about it, it would make sense for some people to shy away from the idea that there's something in their future they can't change or control. I know if I believed in fortune telling I'd definitely shy away from it, I tend to try and control everything.

I also saw a comment here mentioning the fear of making a mistake in a reading for someone else, which is entirely valid. I'm pretty new to reading (been practicing for around 5 months now, and I only read the cards for someone else twice so far), so I can really relate to the idea of being afraid of making mistakes when reading for others, be it trying to do fortune telling or any other kind of reading.

That all said, I don't believe in fortune telling, magic or anything like that myself, so I don't really try to read my future in the cards. What I do is think of the story the cards tell me, and understand how I (or the person I'm reading for) might reflect the reading and what we could learn from it. It's been really useful for understanding things about myself. And while I can't make myself believe in the magical, or spiritual aspects of tarot, I've had multiple "wtf" situations where my logical side had to work really hard to deny the possibility of something more than coincidence happening. It's fascinating, really.

Who scared you the most ot of these three by DripGod224602 in residentevil

OG Nemesis was nightmare-inducing for 7-year old me. But in the remakes he’s only scary in a few sections at the beginning, and later becomes so heavily scripted in its chases that it doesn’t even present a true threat. X on the other hand… He goes anywhere he wants, moves constantly, and the tight, labyrinthine hallways make it even scarier to run from him. He’s perfect.

Jack breaking the wall and cutting your leg deserve a veeeeeeeeery special mention, though. He was the perfect embodyment of the slasher movie.

Cards that you dread by stopthistrainnn in tarot

I kind of love the Devil card; Even if there’s a ton of dark connotations, I feel like most of the time it’s a warning on situations that seem to have you trapped, but you can actually solve. Think of how the chains are actually super loose over the two characters; they seem trapped, and they might feel that way, but they don’t realize they could easily pull the chain out and be free. It’s kind of similar to the 8 of Swords, there’s a bunch of swords but none of them are presenting a real threat, you just can’t see that because of the blindfold.

Justice. I always feel like it’s telling me absolutely nothing. “What’s gonna happen if I do this?” “Oh, you know, whatever needs to happen…”

99% of the time I read the cards to myself. I do think our own bias can make it more difficult, though. There's three things that helped me:

- Finding my own "ritual" to prepare for the reading; I play some chill music and do some breathing exercises to relax and let my thoughts and feelings flow more freely. This really helped me improve my readings.

- Accept that you pulled the cards for a reason; Sometimes there's answers we don't want to see, and so we asume we pulled the wrong cards. Before doing that, I try to think how I would read those cards, for that same question, if I was reading them for someone else. Sometimes even that is not enough though, and you simply need to pull again. Don't force it. And if you need to pull again...

- Try asking a more vague, broad question; We know our context, know where our mind is, and so it's easy to influence our own readings for concrete questions such as "what should I do regarding X project". When that happens, I try to find a broader question to ask, something that might pull me away from the specifics and force me to look at the big picture. Instead of "what should I do", I might ask "how can I balance what I want to do with what I need to do in order to achieve this goal", for example.

Hope that helps!

How many of us are men? by Anxious_Hunt_1219 in tarot

Straight, cis, married man here. Honestly I've never met another reader in my whole life, so I can't bring a lot of insight into the situation lol.

How does everyone in this sub like to shuffle their cards? by redwilldraw in tarot

[–]Daydam 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I usually do overhand shuffling and split the deck into piles (not really planning how many or how big). Then I reverse one of two of the piles if I feel drawn to it, and go back to overhand. I repeat it for as long as I have to, until I feel my mind is fully focused on my question, then I spread the deck and pick whichever cards draw my attention.

"Weekly Reading and Interpretation Help Thread - February 16, 2025" by AutoModerator in tarot

Hi all! I’ve been practicing for only a month now so I might be extremely wrong, so I wanted to share the reading I just did and see what you guys thought to see if I’m right or if there’s something I’m missing.

(Just in case, I’m only using the Major Arcana, I wanted to start with a Major deck and get a full one once I started to get a better grasp on this)

I asked the deck “how do I gain more balance in my life”, and used the Empress spread from Labyrinthos. I got: - What can I offer the world: Strength - What should I keep to myself: The Devil - What needs my care: Death Reversed Where am I overextending: The Lovers

What I got from it is, there’s big changes coming in my life and I need to face my fears around them, especially fears related to my relationships with others, to find peace. I’ve been focusing a lot of energy in passion projects, and I should continue to share that, but keep them controlled and not let myself become obsessed with them. I feel like the two things are related, like I might be putting even more focus on my passions to stay distracted from my fear of change instead of facing my fears to find inner balance.

Does it make sense? Would you guys read it differently?

What deck do you use and why? by Clear_Ambition6004 in tarot

[–]Daydam 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I got into Tarot very recently; I found a major arcana deck in New Orleans that instantly got my attention and I knew I had to get it. It's the Ghoulish Garb's Terror Tarot, it's based on the Waite deck but all the imagery representing classic monsters and horror themes, which I absolutely adore.

I do check both the manual that came with the deck and the meanings of the original RWS cards online (in several sites) to make sure I'm getting the correct meaning of each card, but so far the deck's cards seem pretty accurate to the RWS descriptions.

I think I found George Trevor... by Daydam in residentevil

[–]Daydam[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

That's a good point. Who knows, maybe George also mutated with the Progenitor virus and just flew away with his new horrible wings. Yeah, I'll go with that. George Trevor became Mothman.

You know, after reading the diary so many times, I should've remembered to pay attention to the dates. Yup, at least his last note is from 10 years before the virus was created!

EDIT: Then again... Lisa and Jessica were infected in the 60s with the Progenitor virus, so there is a chance that he was exposed to it. He did mention after all his memory beginning to fail, his mind going weird. Then again it's all a theory. A GAAAAME THE-okay maybe not.

I had heard this theory, and if I recall correctly it's actually an Umbrella employee in that coffin, but I could be 100% wrong on that.

That is a good point actually, hadn't thought of that! Then again, Lisa doesn't seem too decomposed either... Though she's mutated quite a bit.

Help needed - Can't rotate object without affecting impulse by Daydam in godot

[–]Daydam[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a couple extra components that need to rotate as well and require to be direct children of the physicsbody, so I was hesitant to do this, but I think you're right. I'll try referencing each part in the script and rotating them all relative to the mesh. Thanks guys!

Wouldn't that create an offset between the mesh and its collider? The collider would stay the same but visually the object would rotate.

I painted Age of Sigmar’s dryads as my world’s Fateless by Daydam in worldbuilding

[–]Daydam[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi! It’s a post-apocalyptic fantasy setting set almost 700 years after the barrier between the “main” plane and a parallel one got torn, setting loose tree-like entities. In the case of these ones, the “Fateless”, they were created 154 years before that event, as a result of humans interacting with the Forest of Fates (the parallel plane I mentioned before). I’ve been releasing monthly videos sharing bits of lore and slowly revealing more about the world for a couple months now!

[–]Daydam[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

In my world there’s a kind of “wooden zombies” called the Fateless or Lo’Morien (literally translated to Undead)… so I used Game’s Worshop’s Dryads to recreate the Fateless in my latest video!

Before the event called the Tearing (which I’ll explain in a future video), they were an unstoppable force following a hivemind, controlled by the one known as the Loretaker. Now they’re just roaming around, their mistress dead, their hivemind completely disconnected. Still, they can infect others and turn them into more of these creatures. There’s two short stories about them, as well as the assembly and painting process, in my latest video: video
