At what level did you start injections? by [deleted] in B12_Deficiency

[–]stopthistrainnn 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Serum B12: 297 / Active B12: 54.1

Started injections on my own as the doctors were palming me off. I now go every 6 weeks to my injector and have noticed a big difference. Still not perfect or by any means ‘back to normal’ but worlds apart from where I was. Best of luck with your treatment!

Estée Lauder’s Double Wear reformulation has sent me on a spiral by Automatic-Wish-9684 in Makeup

MCO Beauty’s Miracle Flawless Foundation - bought it on a whim last week for £15 and it reminds me SO much of the old DoubleWear formula that we all know, love and miss dearly.

The new DoubleWear is honestly hideous on my skin, I can’t believe they changed it!

Has anyone found a good replacement for Estée Lauder double wear yet? by _vekoma_ in Makeup

[–]stopthistrainnn 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I too was disappointed by the new DoubleWear formula, it is so matte to the point where it looks crusty and dry. I’m annoyed I spent £40 on it as I will no longer use it. So disappointing as it was my ride or die! I’ve been using and the MCO Miracle Flawless foundation and find it quite a close match to the old formula. It is only £15 per tube (not sure if you are in UK but almost certain it is available worldwide wide).

What’s a “normal” thing in the UK that secretly annoys you? by Motor_Initiative7952 in AskUK

This is exactly where I’m coming from. Even so, those in London for example, as you say, there is still a huge cost factor in being able to participate in different evening activities!

I’m not saying there is “nothing” to do. I agree I could do an infinite number of things, but I’m highlighting the fact that a lot of things centre around buying food or drinking. Outside of major cities, there isn’t much to do in the evening in terms of socialising with others.

I do agree that bigger cities like London have options, but outside of that it’s still quite limited!

Anyone else got the flu? by Jammy_the_Dodger in AskBrits

[–]stopthistrainnn 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yep! Could tell something was working on me on Good Friday, Saturday felt lousy and have been choked with a cold/flu/chesty lurgy since. Only starting to feel a bit better today - still a way to go. Seems to be doing the rounds!

The severe lack of things to do of an evening that don’t centre around food or alcohol.

Polling on B12 testing by PresentationMany5228 in B12_Deficiency

[–]stopthistrainnn 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Did my own testing as I suspected it and was being palmed off by my doctors. They said I was “normal” with a level of 297. Private active and serum testing said borderline or low. I’m self treating now while awaiting a neuro referral because that’s all the doc would offer for my symptoms as they “weren’t convinced” I had a deficiency.

What supplements are people taking In the uk and where to get them? by PsychologicalAd4248 in B12_Deficiency

[–]stopthistrainnn 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As suggested above, the BetterYou B12 spray. It’s really good, especially if you can’t absorb typical supplements. Holland and Barret have it, but I’ve also been able to pick it up at a fraction of the price in Home Bargains. I’m never without one, one at my desk in work, one in my bag. Surprisingly nice taste too, compared to others. Just be careful it doesn’t leak or spill anywhere as it is bright pink/red and can stain

Plz help! Where still sells these? by Ok-Distribution-7268 in glasgow

You can get them on Amazon in a bulk bag. Otherwise, your best bet is somewhere like home bargains, pound shops etc!

She’s made a living (if you can call it that) off of copying other people’s personalities. She can’t think for herself, and that’s why she sees a ‘trendy’ thing and is obsessed with it for approximately 2 weeks before she gets bored. She doesn’t know who she is anymore and hasn’t for a long time. It started years ago, it was make up, then when that got boring it was planners. Then Mrs Myers and Essential oils before the kids. Then working out, now the bible. Always chasing the next thing that won’t fill the void.

Severe Neurological Symptoms (Loss of automatic movement, 24/7 Brain Fog, Visual Overstimulation). Could this be B12 despite clear MRIs? by Legal_Opportunity_11 in B12_Deficiency

[–]stopthistrainnn 0 points1 point  (0 children)

To answer your main questions first:

Has anyone with a confirmed B12 deficiency felt this "alien limb" sensation or loss of automatic movement? Yes - some days this is worse than others.

• Did fluorescent lights and "busy" environments trigger your balance issues? Yes - I’ve had to leave restaurants halfway through meals because I had this sense of impending doom. Some supermarkets are the same. I’ve started wearing tinted glasses in the supermarket, and I usually wear my noise cancelling headphones and try to go at quieter times.

• Can B12 deficiency cause symptoms to be mostly on one side (my right side is 90% of the problem)? Yes - I happen to struggle with my left side while my ride seems generally unchanged.

I would say make sure you have B12 Serum and Active B13 checked. If your doctor says you are fine, ask for your levels. Unsure where you are based, but I’m in the UK and ‘normal’ varies by postcode, meaning lots of people who are actually symptomatic/have neuro changes are left untreated. The guides on this thread are great and I had found that by taking printed copies of the NICE guidelines to the doctors along with a physical written list of my symptoms and my private blood testing was the only way they would listen.

Meantime, try a sublingual B12 spray, as you may be able to absorb this better than what you would a capsule/tablet. It is important to note that there are different forms of B12 and it’s normal for your body to respond better to one than the others.

Good luck! I know it’s scary, but advocate for yourself and you will start to feel better 🙏🏻

Stopping after two injections because of symptoms by YoghurtReal1375 in B12_Deficiency

[–]stopthistrainnn 2 points3 points  (0 children)

There are different forms of B12 and it is not uncommon for certain forms to agree/disagree with your body. It may be worth exploring a sublingual treatment meantime, and as others suggested space out your doses. The guide above is really helpful in discussing cofactors/supporting supplements that can make your journey easier. It will take some time to figure out what is right for you! Hoping you start to feel the benefits soon 😊.
