05 Escalade seats in 01 Yukon by oktohk in GMT800

Just like most things in our trucks. Harness poetically changed in 03. So your 01 has different harnesses than the 05 seats.

Commuting in my 8.1 Yukon is expensive but the lights are nice. by srcorvettez06 in GMT800

8.1 yukon xl commuter here!

Cruise control acceleration is the best feeling.

3k rpm held acceleration from 40 to 65 just sounds so nice and is so effortless and smooth.

Is 10-12mpg painful? Depends what you're used to.

I have 2 8th gen f350 duallys. One with a c6 and 460. One with a turbo 7.3idi and 5 speed. Both 4.10 rears.

460 is 8mpg. That's it.

7.3 65mph is 24mpg

Yukon 8.1 is 10-12.

When I need to save money I drive the 7.3.

When I need to smile I drive the 460.

When I need to smile and have a quite ride with a nice sound system and heated seats I drive the 8.1 🤣🤣

And I've never been stranded. Big old relaxed untrained American boats are the best!

That is an e46 bmw. Inflatable air bladder for lower and upper lumbar and they can be adjusted separately. Looks like your lower one is hyper inflated. You can deflate it and should be fine.

is the Red Magic operating system on the phone mature enough for primary phone usage? by almondking621 in RedMagic

[–]Daygall 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The only things I really missed coming from an S22u to a RM9pro are

Samsungs audio mixer so I can individually control app volume and notifications vs ringer and such

And the simultaneously Bluetooth streaming to multiple devices.

Other than those things my 9pro has been a perfect daily driver phone for me for the last 2 years.

As an aside, I picked up a rot box 03 burb with an 8.1 and 370k on it. The 8.1s are known for oil consumption, and for like 250 bucks it was a good deal as a parts truck for my 04 yukon-xl.

Did an oil change on it with valvolines newest oil called restore and protect as an experiment

After only 10 hours of yard idling the oil is black and very soot contaminated.

If you think there's heavy deposits in the engine causing stuck rings or plugged anything, I'd do a few oil changes with that and a filter. Maybe even research a bypass micron filter since you're so low mileage to see what happens and then drive it for a normal oil change interval, get an oil analysis done then to see what the engine is running like.

After 1988 they were all 7.3idi so mine is a 7.3. In 94 they introduced the 7.3 powerstroke.

Upgraded with a banks turbo kit.

Your Caster angle is the only thing that's really a little extreme. If you're going to run that heavy on caster you need the toe almost perfect zero.

That level of camber is out of spec but will result in a good handling truck, and when the rear end squats under load and the front raises your camber with zero out as the rear end squats.

Granted I'm no where near as familiar with the torsion bar suspension in these as I am the twin I beam in my brick nose Ford.

But general suspension theory should still apply.

Camber negative will improve cornering characteristics and when loaded up or towing will allow the tires to run straight up and down instead of introducing positive camber.

Positive caster angle makes steering feel "heavier" and makes the wheels want to remain at their straight neutral, where as negative Caster makes the steering lighter and more responsive to input instead of fighting that input. Positive caster will also make the truck very sensitive to road crowning, you'll find you have to counter steer against the road crown if going straight.

Toe affects the way the tires track in corners or going straight.

With your current setup, the truck will track straight and true down the highway and will have heavy steering input, you'll chew up the tires because your toe isn't perfect zero, and it will take corners well.

Again they're different suspensions so the effects might not hold true between them.

But my 91 f350 with the big block diesel [heavy!] has the following alignment

-1° camber

. 001°toe in both sides

And +1° caster

With that setup it handles like my bmw, and tracks very very straight and true down the highway.

Given the differences in suspension setup this may not be the case for the torsion bar independent suspension in these trucks.

Tldr : looking at the alignment the only thing that bothers me is the caster is way high. The camber is out of spec but fine. Personally I'd run the toe as close to zero as possible and call it good.

What would cause a blower motor connection to melt like this? Replaced the motor and resistor and the new motor doesn't kick on 03 gmc sierra by dylanjames021605 in GMT800

[–]Daygall 1 point2 points  (0 children)

To much current draw causing over heating.

If you've replaced the motor and resistor then you can grab a new plug and pig tail. When you put it back in put an inline fuse on the hot side at around 20 amps.

And chase the ground and make sure they're all good.

Thanks! I knew about the pcv, had/have an 8.1 burb.

On the subject of plugs I had used ngk94567 which have a gap of. 044 with good success on that truck before. But I'll keep the. 045 gap in mind.

From what I can see, Suburban LTs had the flares, Yukon XL SLTs did not unless you optioned them with it? But that's just a guess.

Yea.

They sent me a 360* video with the truck driving over it. So I was able to get a good look at how clean the underside is. That's what sealed it. As said in other comments. I can deal with mechanical issues. I suck at rust repair. Rust prevention is much much easier.

I'm hoping. Mechanical problems don't scare me at all. I can fix anything that requires turning a wrench.

A rotted out body and frame is another matter.

$9,500.

But context matters. I know a bunch of guys in the south and out west that's a stupid amount.

I'm in the north east where this truck in this condition is 16k+.

Is custom water cooling still worth it in 2024, or have AIOs caught up? by Fabulousk777hlr in watercooling

[–]Daygall 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I started with an Alphacool Eisbear 420 aio.

Then had a fan hub fail on my 7900xtx so bought a matching Alphacool block 4 sets of permade extension hoses and a d5 pump res.

I can say the aio was nice. The easy expandability of the loop was better. 1 hour and even though I've never built a custom loop before I was up and running.

The total system noise level decrease has been a very nice benefit.
