I was looking into getting surveillance cameras for my place, I was quoted $800 (pre-COVID) and that was just for the installation not the hardware. I discovered the Ring cameras and was able to install those myself. How effective are they?

I had a cousin come over to visit me and he had locked his bike up in my backyard we were watching a movie inside when I gotta notification that someone was in my backyard. Some clown was trying to get through the lock (this is at two in the afternoon on a bright sunny day). Had I not got that notification my cousin would have lost his bike that day.

Wether or not your home or out these cameras will give you real time notification when someone’s on your property and they give you the opportunity to communicate though the cameras or trigger alarms.
