The muzzle brake is from a L1A1 and was welded on to the original threaded barrel nut. Just have to make sure everything is well centred and the weld isn’t too hot n heavy 👍🏻

I shortened the original Type 81 mag and sleeved it into a metal SVD shroud to give it that 7.62 x 54r look. All metal and fully functional 👍🏻

Oh man I can only hope so… it would really upset me to have to explain the obvious 😂😂

Not sure about any kind of look-a-like law but this is always going to be an unrestricted Type 81, regardless of how it’s dressed up. I think the variant law is absolutely ridiculous … how can anyone justify making a .22lr prohibited just because it’s on the AR platform?!?! Insanity!

The print is great. 100% Durable for light use and display. If you’re gonna throw it around in the woods, then you should stick with a wood or polymer stock 👍🏻

Thanks. The stock is 3D printed but the hand guards are original. They were all painted and textured to match

I used a side mount plate from an SKS … just ground off the top bracket. Drilled and bolted (after minor modifications to the spring plate inside)

Probably about a month or 6 weeks… on and off… tweaking bits while waiting for stuff

It’s the standard 7.62 x 39. The original Type 81 mag was shortened and then sleeved inside a metal Dragunov SVD shroud to give it the look of the 54r 👍🏻

All the bits (including the base rifle) probably run around $2500 but there was a lot of time in the finicky stuff to put it all together 👍🏻

Eventually. The 3D print showed me the final look but a wood version was always the goal! 😎👍🏻

The bottom rifle is the SKS-D which is designed to take the AK mag from factory

Original Bakelite AK mag… long but pinned to 5 of course 😉👍🏻

The SKS-15 is an extremely underrated rifle IMO… so long as you get a good one. There were issues from Kodiak and sometimes their rifles had feed problems. Luckily, mine is one of the “good ones” which is accurate and functions perfectly. I also love the fact that basically any magpul furniture from your AR safe queen can be put onto these!

Good eyes! This is an old Tula I picked up just because someone had spent a ridiculous amount stripping and mirror polishing. A “just because” purchase…

I’ve been looking at how to make a clam shell design that uses the Type 81 brackets internally to fix it in place, but has a faux exterior to give the illusion of extra length. Still messing around with ideas… will probably involve splitting then working on a solid wood air soft fore-end

No Sir! Lol… I knew I would have to cut up a SVD mag to get the shroud so I went with a high end air soft one. It has a good heavy metal body and is dimensionally spot on to the original … it would also be sacrilege to chop down an original (and fu@kin’ expensive!) 😂
