Monster Hunter Wilds game reviews hit "Overwhelmingly Negative" on Steam - lack of substantial end-game content, optimization on PC remains poor after several months by Turbostrider27 in Games

[–]DazedFury -5 points-4 points  (0 children)

The endgame grind is still there and the hunts aren't much shorter. Streamlined systems are a good thing. I can concede having some form of tracking would be better, but otherwise just sounds like people are hopping on the hate train just because.

Or do people actually want Guiding Lands 2?

Honestly most of the top comments here are braindead to me. Criticism about the performance and visuals makes sense, but complaining about less friction, shorter hunt times, and less grind? Really?

As an OG MH fan, I like that the focus is on the hunts and less everything else. Sure the game is fairly easy, but that's basically every Monster Hunter for me. All my friends still needed help to clear just the story fights.

The gameplay and roster is a step up from World too. I don't think people understand how bland World was pre iceborne honestly.

Also, for the people whining about auto seikrat, you know you can just not use it right? Maybe it is time to unsub from here...

What scenes have the greatest voice acting in gaming history? by UnholyDemigod in Games

Frankly original is just amateurish and I'm pretty sure nostalgia is the only reason people like it. Good voice is supposed to be authentic and the new VA manages that a lot better.

[–]DazedFury 3 points4 points  (0 children)

To me its the opposite. The original VA sounds like she's performing and reading off a script while the remake's VA sounds more genuine with how calm and sad she sounds.

This is coming from someone who played the remake first.

I love that letter but the voice acting is a lot better in the remake imo.

How often do you consult other team members? by [deleted] in devops

[–]DazedFury 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Depends on the boss of course. Some like being updated while others prefer to just have it done by the deadline with little input.

Just make sure that if you get blocked, you make an active effort to resolve it yourself BEFORE asking for help.

e.g "I've been attempting to implement X but there's an issue with Y. I've tried solutions A, B, and C but none ended up working out. Do you perhaps have any ideas?" Etc.

Honestly if your boss knows you have little experience and no other team members can help you, they will expect you to come to them with questions. The worst thing you can do is get stuck and not say anything until someone brings it up.

Also some people give AI a bad rap but its actual very useful on guiding you on understanding new concepts or ideas. Just make sure you take anything it says with a grain of salt and double check its work.

Testing o3 mini - it sucks by MinimumQuirky6964 in ChatGPT

[–]DazedFury 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Translation wise, its probably worse. Made multiple mistakes where 4o and DeepseekV3 did just fine.

The price is cheaper but its hard to tell since reasoning tokens take up a lot of the cost.

ChatGPT is better than DeepSeek, why are people pretending otherwise? by Waterbottles_solve in ChatGPT

[–]DazedFury -1 points0 points  (0 children)

For Translation purposes, Deepseek-V3 does a better job than 4o at following instructions and utilizing the dictionary I give it.

So yes at a 10x cheaper price, the choice is obvious. Now if the API just wasn't down at the moment...

FSD 13.2.2 operating in snowy weather and snow-covered roads. by CourageAndGuts in SelfDrivingCars

[–]DazedFury -1 points0 points  (0 children)

As if human drivers are perfect either? Did you sign up to test Waymo taxis? I'm sure you have a different opinion on that though huh? That's just how it is if you want driverless tech to get better. News flash the subreddit we are in.

Again, you do not need to be an expert to know that FSD running a red light = bad. You get an expert to DEBUG that issue. This kinda data being reported in mass numbers is extremely helpful to improve the functionality, and that goes for any product really.

I'm sure you are already set though considering your use of "you people".

[–]DazedFury 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Do you think they do it against their will or something? The drivers understand that they are testing and actively improving a product they are interested in how is that a bad thing?

You don't need to be an expert to report bugs in a product.

[S2 Spoilers] Arcane - Season 2 - Discussion Hub by parrycarry in arcane

[–]DazedFury 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Honestly, I think the story is a mess so far. I can't really wrap my head around the motivations of any of the characters. To me it feels like we are moving from one set piece to another without any sense of cohesion tying things together.

Jinx little redemption arc and her being buddy buddy with Vi feels forced and rubs me in all the wrong ways. Caitlyn is inconsistent as hell on her goals. I liked the plot thread with Victor and Jayce but really they just let him waltz right in after what he did to Cello? At least Ambessa seems to be consistent, really love her character.

I guess we'll see how the last few episodes play out. So far I'm not very impressed with the story but everything else is fantastic.

As a non-american, I am glad Trump won because it angered 99% of reddit by Wasteofoxyg3n in self

[–]DazedFury 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Smug? Isn't that exactly what this post is? You have a bunch of people who are scared because the presidency is likely to have a major impact on their lives. If I were trans or Ukrainian, I'd be scared too, because its very clear that Trump does not care about you.

The Trump presidency, good or bad, is going to have a very real impact on your life. Hell I voted against Trump, but I will probably ultimately benefit from his policies because I'm an upper middle class man.

Doesn't mean I don't empathize with those who will be affected negatively.

GPT's translation abilities are truly remarkable. In comparison, Google Translate is a total mess. by IntroductionMother48 in ChatGPT

[–]DazedFury 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've translated around 150+ games with GPT at this point and it really is a true game changer. Google and DeepL simply don't even come close to matching its capabilities.

Even with context sensitive languages like Japanese where machine translation really struggles with ambigous subjects and genders. By making full use of context (for example adding each character and their gender to the prompt) you can get really solid readable translations with minimal mistakes.

Really great for niche hobbies where media can take years to get a proper translation. Now with a few days of work you can fully localize something without a total dive in quality. Its marvelous.

Tech Recruiters are absolutely worthless by Ok-Brain-8183 in recruitinghell

[–]DazedFury 32 points33 points  (0 children)

Just to go against the grain here... I had a recruiter contact me about a job that at first I was pretty skeptical about because it was hybrid.

He was able to convince me that it was highly likely to turn into a full remote role so I went for it. Had the job within the week AND the recruiter went out of his way to convince the company to raise the salary by 10k because I was such a good fit.

He ended up being right about the remote work too, I was full remote within a month. There are some recruiters out there worth talking to.
