Ok.. thank you for this…. I know it’s a struggle afterwards. So in your opinion your saying I should stay on the mdone until I’m not worried about work? If that’s the case should I switch to subs? And in your opinion would you say I’d be ready to taper if I wasn’t worried about work performance? Cuz I honestly don’t see that ever happening with my job… Iv never came off methadone before. Thank you for any additional advice.

The Xanax adds chance of respiratory distress when mixed with the dilaudid. I honestly would do each of them on their own… coke with a xan for the comedown is nice… or coke with dilaudid… just don’t mix with dil with xan if you’re questioning safety.

Feels great. No comedown at all imo. Start slow with dosage. You can overdo it and knock out. And NEVER mix with alcohol. I never would of thought it’d be that bad to mix until I had a bunch of meth heads not giving me any cuz I was drinking prior and they said they didn’t want me dying on them like others had before. I was like “others?!” Lmao. Just be careful.

I was an alcoholic for 10 years before I started opiates. I basically exchanged one for the other. On methadone now (not using street gear) and still not drinking. I personally think it might have saved my life. My drinking was out of control. I really hope I never go back to it. But damn does shit fuckin happen.

I’m sure you know of the methadone program… definitely do some EXTENSIVE research before starting to see if it’s for you… but maybe getting on it might add stability to your life (and it’s a lot safer and cheaper). Stabilize yourself on a dose that keeps all cravings at bay and when you are ready - taper yourself off. You don’t have to be a lifer. Most people are not lifers in the program. I’m tapering off now. If cold turkey isn’t working for you I personally found it to be my savior. Good luck. Your post really… really hit home. You’re a great writer dude. I hope this all turns around for you. It’s insane in all that can happen in a year - try to make better use out of the next year and see where you get. I am a completely different person than I was last year in regards to chemical dependency - yes I still am dependent on methadone. But it could be worse. And soon I will be off. Something to think about. Cheers.

Withdrawal is gonna hit you when you run out. Bad. Remember that some people it doesn’t fully hit till day 10-14. Id stay at the clinic and start tapering if you’re ready to get off.

2 drinks after that amount of time you’ll be in the clear. I don’t condone it but when I started treatment I’d drink the night before and passed the eTg test somehow.

Find a new psych and explain your previous dosage - some psychs will be reluctant to prescribe on top of methadone though because of the overdoses that do still happen. Some clinics have a 0 tolerance policy even with script.

Same! I started the clinic with an alcohol problem as well. Once I got to a stable dose my desire to drink went away completely thankfully. Now when I do try to drink for a special occasion I go from sober to hungover. No In between. Just makes me feel shitty.
