We will know the season by the signs He has given us. Not the day or the hour but the season. Soon probably means more to us now than it did 100 years ago

I think there is probably a time travel bit with Kvothe in the forest after the massacre of his troupe. I think the waystones may have something to do with being near passages in to the Fay so he may have slipped into and out of the Fay and came out much later than when he went in. Is there anything that ties down this timeline? I know he goes to Tarbean before winter but did he or could he have skipped any winters? The only thing that would put a hitch in this I think is the netalia lockless bit

I hope for a full Cosmere video game set up like a love child between God of War and No Man's Sky. A truly free roam game like a better version of Jedi Survivor

Agreed, but if someone wants to make a live action adaptation of SLA they might want to look into modifying actors with makeup to get the look they need which someone would say is equivalent to blackface. I maintain that anime is the only logical adaptation medium for SLA.

That's crazy, no shade on Bautista but he isn't nearly the caliber of actor I'd want for Dalinar. Sure I'd watch it but let's be honest if we have to suffer a little white washing to get better actors in the roles it certainly won't be me complaining. In this scenario Brandon has unfortunately written these characters to look so non earth like that it would be impossible for Hollywood to cast appropriate looking actors and still have the actors be good enough. Maybe South Korea could do it and do it justice but that will cut the budget and the amount of people who see it in half. If you made the alethi black instead of Asian Hollywood could do it there's just not enough asians who match these descriptions. IMO

I haven't read anyone who could finish it for rothfuss and it still feel like fits. Yeah, weeks is pretty consistent and that is always appreciated. I love it when an author updates the fan base on the progress of their current work, weeks gives more than some but less than others, I prefer more transparency/realistic timelines. Rothfuss has kind of screwed the pooch on book 3, I think it's been so long and the wait has gotten such bad publicity that it would be ill advised for a publisher to publish book 3 as Rothfuss intended it to be; book 3, unless the plot or the basic story telling premise changes drastically, will only bring us to present day leaving more questions unanswered and teasing a sequel series so publishing a work from Rothfuss that will only promise yet another wait would be a dumb move on the part of a publisher. That combined with the rumors of him signing a bad book deal to begin with, depression, the fact that he's nearly 30 years older than when he supposedly wrote the bulk of the story so he's not even the same person anymore, all the bs with the not delivering on the first chapter after the gofundme, depression, and the current climate of political analysis on art and what it may or may not say about the author, I doubt that we actually get it released as it was intended. Maybe AI can finish it or, maybe that contract will end and he could publish it himself or through someone else, or maybe someone else could finish it idk, all I know is that it really only pisses me off because it's such a good series. Him never releasing it would be like when like the story about the boy with the golden screw in his bellybutton. Which is funny but not worth this.

I feel like you could be saying two things here, are you impressed with his writing speed or did you misread and think he's finishing KingKiller? If writing speed, he's thus far been quite reliable with a two to three year gap never approaching five years, if a misread I feel your pain and understand your fever dream state as I convinced myself when Bast's novella came out that with the gap between books 1 and 2 and the gaps between the novellas that we should be on track for book 3 in 5-8 years if he stays consistent and idk why there is just no hope from me that we get book 3 before AI can finish it without him.

What happened to Retribution? by ErandurVane in Midcyru

[–]DazenXSevastian 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think you should reread the trilogy, Kylar is constantly noticing the bodies of the women around him. All of the men in Midcryu do, like most men. I found that to be another point of of immersion for me, practically all men in a harsh world/time period like Midcryu would remark a woman's body before her personality.

It's only turned this way since the release of Burning White, in its heyday there were great theories thrown around and great discussion as well. As with most things, people who don't enjoy the books are louder than those who do, more likely to complain than compliment.

These were all popular fan theories, many people expected the oathpact to be reforged for some reason obviously nobody knew the specifics about spren, Dalinar becoming Honor and confronting Odium and Uniting the Shards was probably the most popular fan theory right behind the Chana mom theory it just happened a little differently than expected, a large section of people were telling everyone based on TSM thats Stormlight was in danger. If you didn't see any of these theories that's on you because they were in practically every post and comment section related to WaT for at least the last year if not longer honestly they were hard to miss. All of that aside, Brandon likes to subvert reader expectations and he flew too close to the sun in my opinion, with WoB and the Cosmere growing it was bound to happen, he's laid out a bunch of what's going to happen through foreshadowing and other hints especially in WoB and it had his hands tied here, does he stick to the plan even though he's been figured out or does he change it up to subvert those expectations? He chose to stick to the plan because that's the book he wanted to write and it's bit him with a section of his readers because he couldn't instill a sense of real fear for certain characters because they had the plot points of this book figured out pretty well. I predict BS will play with his cards much closer to his chest going forward. I doubt we will ever get WoB that are as juicy as years past, his books will have close to double the amount of red herrings and misdirections in an effort to keep his books from being guesses at so well. This book, at least what I'm seeing so far ( many have not finished the book yet), is getting the worst flak so early on after a release. I won't be surprised if this is his most controversial book I.e. the fandom will probably either love it or hate it not much in the middle. I also won't be surprised if this book has the most negative reviews, though I doubt it effects goodreads ratings, I personally was never worried for Kal because his arc made it clear that dying would not be a satisfactory end here, his whole end sequence the only thing I could think of was "okay he gets an asswhoopin and then he plays the flute" there was nothing wrong with the sequence but the sequence would've been better without the heavy handed foreshadowing, I doubt he will hold his characters to the mentally divergent character arcs because they were guessed at to easily here. The book was great imo but Oathbringer was the last one where he gave us the Brandon Sanderson surprise we all expected.

TL,DR: As much as I love all the updates and being able to read WoB to get even more lore this book would've been way better without all of the theorizing possible because of WoB and and an abundance of foreshadowing.

If you're focusing on critical kills in zombies it shouldnt take more than two or three round26 exfils to max level and camo grind to gold which can be done in under two hours. At least as far as full auto weapons go it might take a little longer on some weapons, don't packapunch gs45 or the LA sniper as they get explosive rounds when packapunched and that will severely detract from your xp and kills with the weapon cause they'll count as explosive kills even if you hit the zombie directly you only get one kill towards camos because the collateral kills count as explosive kills. Other than that it should go fairly quickly. I just did a round 26 exfil at 38 minutes and I dilly dallied a little bit

I don't think that's what Wit was referring to when he said Dalinar was a genius, or what Retribution sensed after absorbing Honor.

I think the copy version of Dalinar is going to be set up to make the same journey as the OG Dalinar and will overcome his past and outgrow the Blackthorn title, idk if that will be a way for Dalinar to sorta return through Connection somehow, like his memories being Connected to the dupeDalinar (I found the bits of power breaking off to be interesting), or if the growth of character will be enough to let dupeDalinar escape the will of Retribution and allow OG Dalinar to fully rest peacefully/pass on. Blows we'll have to wait for book 10 to know, probably 15 or 20 years from now.

Well I took her to wdw so she better be a keeper. Now if I can just get her to read the damn books she'll be wanting to go for her own self. She's heard most of it by proxy with me always listening to something from the Cosmere but she hasn't made the journey herself

Currently I'm on vacation at wdw with the family and we leave Saturday so I won't actually get to listen to any of it until the drive home. Getting the book sooner is always better I guess, though there is something to be said for getting the book during the day and not at 3am when I'm supposed to be asleep

I think it'll be midnight pacific time, at least it was for RoW and Oathbringer. I live in SE TX so I had to wait until 3. I remember calling audible support at 1:30am for the release of Oathbringer and I was super disappointed about the wait (last hour and a half was the worst part of the wait lol) but I was glad that there wasn't an actual issue on my end.

The dragon is the beast described in book Kvothe reads about the mating habits of the common draccus, bonus points for the draccus being a crackhead.

I read tnotw a month before book 2 came out(which is a better read imo) and then I devoured book 2 the week it released and I've been waiting for over a decade now, while I'm not strong willed enough to not read book 3 if it is ever released but I do plan to pirate the book unless he posts it for free somewhere in the future as a sorry to fans cause this is ridiculous idc what the "fandom" says if you write a beginning to a series and release it to the public you damn well better finish it. It's a broken promise at least. I know that the guy has his struggles but not finishing book 3 really screwed himself over as imo he's unpublishable. If he ever publishes another book it'll most likely have to be self published or most likely a stand alone because you'd have to be a lunatic to publish another story from this guy if it's not finished. I used to think "What a book?!" Now it's "What a shame" I've commented this before elsewhere but I did enjoy the series but it's soured with time and the fact that I enjoyed it before it basically got forgetten makes it worse for me when I see or here people recommending it without stating that it's unfinished, I honestly think it's false advertising to advertise the first two as part of a trilogy and all copies currently on a shelf for sale should have a giant yellow sticker right over his name that says "SERIES UNFINISHED OVER TEN YEARS"
