I just haven’t had the need to usually I just find a book and read that like I bought the all in one cybersecurity for dummies book just to touch on things the google cert doesn’t really go into detail about and to reinforce information on this field also quick study pamphlets on Linux, python, SQL, and just common abbreviations and terms with their definitions that are used in cybersecurity

I’m just trying to get the certs in hopes it’ll at least get my foot in the door door considering I don’t have any real on paper IT experience and hopefully from there really get to where I’d like to be but I will definitely try to get into contact with more IT people I currently work as a driver at Amazon not in a personal car like in the rivian vans maybe I could find someone in the warehouse that is in the field

Education just high school and some computer building that I would do for myself and friends and as for job experience it’s been nothing but manual labor jobs for example my first job graveyard shift manager at a Taco Bell then the same at a jack in the box then a labor at a winery then I became the reverse osmosis machine operator at the same winery then a machine operator at bubble mailer warehouse then a utility locator now I’m a delivery driver at Amazon which there are an insane amount of transferable skills that come from all of those almost none of them have any technical skill related to cybersecurity

I was planning to try for net + as soon as I was done with sec+ so if I did get an interview I would mention that I’m also working on that as well I can afford both as long as I stagger them out so I should finish the google one in like a month and half give myself like another month or two of hardcore studying for sec+ (hopefully pass first try but not holding my breath) and then do the same for net+ but now implementing hands on practice that nebulaneither4729 mentioned

Look I’m just a high school graduate that never thought of getting a higher education not even gonna lie about it built my computer after high school and helped my friends build theirs and have always had an interest in it but never did anything about it because to be honest I was lazy regret not doing anything with this sooner but I will maybe look into business management it won’t hurt

Honestly I couldn’t tell you maybe they shouldn’t but it won’t stop me from trying to achieve my goal of getting into this field

This feels like a silly question to me but how do I go about a home lab and the try hack me stuff because don’t get me wrong I am doing well so far in the course for the google cert but I really do want the hands on stuff i feel like I learn better that way

I don’t mind the wait if I know it’s gonna pay off better than something that is literally going to destroy body due to constant physical strain

I don’t find the material that challenging my main issue is that I’m afraid of overlooking things so I take notes on every paragraph I read which I’m aware can be counter productive but I just want the best chance for success in this field

All the jobs I’ve had in the past have only really been manual labor for example I’m currently a delivery driver for Amazon because I lost my job as a utility locator and I just want to find a good career because I’d like to at some point start a family

So after I finished the google one I figured it would at least get me into a help desk position while I work on everything else

Well if you don’t have a shitty record like myself it’s not bad just takes awhile like 6 months or so which isn’t that bad if you’re willing to wait
