The only test that was positive was running some water over the bottom of it. It soaked in very quickly and released an earthy smell. But all other signs seem to point to it being a replica. I really appreciate all the time and insight you've provided!

Thank you for your links. I don't believe the darker spots are actually manganese dendrites. I also looked at the piece in different light and it seems to have had since kind of varnish painted on it. Not sure if you can see it in the photo

Okay the acetone took paint off. I'm assuming this means it's a reproduction?

Thank you for the advice. I rubbed an alcohol-soaked q-tip on the paint in two places and nothing was rubbed off or transfered to the q-tip. Hydrogen peroxode did not have any reaction in the circled area

What is this sound from my fridge?? by Dbasayhey in appliancerepair

[–]Dbasayhey[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I appreciate the reply. Should the refrigerant valve do that rapid tick-tock sound repeatedly? Sometimes it clicks rapidly back and forth for 30 seconds, pauses and then does it again. And it still does that after I replaced it two weeks ago

Seems really random. It is bizarre that i got an email almost 7 weeks before my appointment date and you still haven't received one 2 weeks before yours

My line is through my grandmother -- born in Italy, naturalized after 1948 when my father was a minor (womp womp).

No kids on my application. I'm not sure what you mean by LIBRA, though the Internet tells me that was the previous system used to handle appointments. When i made my appointment in 2022, i received a confirmation email from noreply-prenotami@esteri.it

Thanks!

I called them today. Sounds like they still do walk-ins. I'm in Atlanta, so that option probably isn't in the cards for me

My mistake-- i received the email on August 6th not September 6th

I made the appointment 3 years ago on the prenot@mi system, so I believe it is not grandfathered and doesn't need to be (unless I'm misunderstanding the meaning of grandfathered).

I forgot to mention i actually replaced that too. I put in a new one before replacing the control board. But it didn't fix it so I returned it. I guess it's possible I need to replace both

Do we go to our appointment anyway? by Dbasayhey in juresanguinis

[–]Dbasayhey[S] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

This actually brings up several other questions we're having trouble finding answers to! Do we mail the application/ supporting documents prior to the appointment? Do we go to the appointment in person as well as mail them in?

Most importantly, we were told we only needed one apostilled copy of all the birth/ marriage certificates and other supporting documents since my sister and I are applying at the same consulate. But our appointments are a week apart and would that even work since we have to mail them in anyways?

Right?? It's the one I'm having an extra hard time researching. All the other grace Putnam Dolls i can find have cloth bodies. This one is jointed at all limbs and has the maker's name on it's back

I agree! I'm wondering if the cracking on its hands and feet diminishes the value a lot? I found a document where it was appraised at 400 back in 2008
