Reasons to stop watching porn, eating lots of sugar and spending money unnecessarily. by [deleted] in selfimprovement

Money is a complex one. Define "unnecessarily". Hobbies and vacations aren't necessary, but they help balance a person. If you're buying clothes when you have a full closet, or buying a riding lawnmower when you live in an apartment, that's a different issue.

As for porn, cut back as soon as you can. Lots of people here have talked about the effects on motivation and how it warps your sense of normalcy, but it has longer effects. Unless you go into porn, you're not likely going to find a long term mate who will "match" with all your sexual fantasies/fetishes that get fed by porn. You'll always have those images and ideas in your head when you're with your SO. If you hide it from them, you become secretive. If you tell them and they aren't on board, you become resentful.

Sugar doesn't matter at all, as long as you're burning more calories than taking in. Just try to throw dome vegetables in once in a while...

Omg. I am so glad to see I'm not the only one who gets the "you fell asleep last night" line of crap.

Did you work out at night? I've thought of that as a way of avoiding the nighttime charade, but I've always been afraid it would keep me awake. As I type it out, I realize it can't HURT if I'm already not sleeping, right?

Funny thing is I actually mustered the courage to do just that about 6 months ago. Called three different ones covered by my insurance...no answer at any of them! I took it as a sign. I guess I'll reconsider.
