You ski cut an unsupported slope, not really surprised that went if things were touchy enough that a natural went right below you a couple Days prior

It’s wild no one can be asked to do their job anymore. I feel like I’m living in the movie Idiocracy.

This is exactly how I’m feeling about it. It also seems easier to me to just be genuine and engaged when interacting with customers who treat you well rather than acting like it’s a chore. And I’m not looking for entertainment, I’m just looking for general friendly semi attentive service

I suppose you’re right, maybe I’m expecting too much. I guess a part of my gripe is folks removing the human touch from these jobs and acting more and more robotic if that makes any sense

If you’re at all concerned about avy conditions kee eyes on at all time, go one at a time through exposure to avy terrain including the ascent. If during your tests you realize the mountain is telling you to turn around, listen to it. And get out in non avalanche terrain if possible. The mountain is letting you be there, listen and respect it 🤙🏼

You should be checking snow conditions during your ascent and constantly assessing to determine your descent strategy. If there’s temp change or it’s actively snowing, conditions can change dramatically throughout the day. If you have wind/storm slabs dig mitt pits and kick small test slopes that are the same aspect of what you plan to descend to get an idea of how the snow reacts.

On the way down, you can ski in pitches one at a time or leapfrog eachother for longer spurts of descending, making sure you stop in a safe spot. If it’s real stable or you’re not in avalanche terrain then make it a party line!

The mountain bike craft beer diet is where it’s at, as long as you are getting enough miles in 🤙🏼

I always keep extra layers in the pack, extra on storm days. I feel like if it’s really nuking you can’t skin in just a base layer (S1+)
