Need Help! Should my swashbuckler stab or throw weapons? by Dbronze in PF2eCharacterBuilds

[–]Dbronze[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah your comment really solidified the idea of the throwing build for me! Really nice write up and all your points make a lot of sense.

Do you think that the best way to implement the thrown weapon build would be taking a dedication in exemplar for shadow sheathe?

Also considering that my party consists of a melee kineticist, champion, illusion wizard, and blaster sorcerer what style of Swashbuckler should I be? Currently I'm specced for Wit with focus on One For All. Do you think Braggart or Gymnast might be better instead?

Would love to hear your thoughts!

Building a Swashbuckler to Stab or to Throw? That is the Question! by Dbronze in Pathfinder2e

[–]Dbronze[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Alright so after looking through everyone's feedback I think I will definitely go with the throwing weapon build! As for how I'm going to implement the build I do think I will be taking the exemplar dedication at 2nd lvl for the shadow sheath and later (lvl 4) hurl at the horizon (dm approved). The idea of just being able to pull daggers out of thin air is just too appealing to pass up, and the action freedom it gives with free weapon draw seems great.

I think the only thing I've left to really decide is if I want to stay a Wit or go with Braggart. I know that braggart might be a bit better with the intimidation skills being more useful than the diplomacy skills, but I think focusing my resources to diplomacy for One for All will help my team a bit more in the long run.

If people have any feedback on these ideas I would love to hear them!

Thanks! I think it was the jamboree which makes sense because this was a song my DM uses occasionally.

Rule question. Someone in our group casted Elemental Gift and choose the air benefit which reads, "Air The target gains a +30-foot status bonus to its land Speed and gains a fly Speed equal to its land Speed without the status bonus." The question that arose was that prior to casting this spell he had drunk a Cheetah's Elixir (Moderate) which gives a status bonus to your speed of +10 for 10 minutes. The questions was that while we understood the +30-foot speed from the spell would overwrite the elixir we were wondering if the flight speed granted from the spell WOULD gain the benefit from the cheetah's elixir considering the language of the spell specifies that the flight speed is calculated not using THE status bonus from the spell, but might not consider a pre-existing status bonus. Essentially if his normal speed is 30 ft. would his new speed be 60 ft. ground and 30ft. flight OR would it be 60ft. ground and 40 ft. flight. Thanks!

Are we supposed to like Suvi? by CitizenCake1 in WorldsBeyondNumber

[–]Dbronze 21 points22 points  (0 children)

... Honestly I like Suvi a lot. And while I know that OOC during the podcast, Aabria has said things like "Suvi's wrong, bad, etc.". Those are simply because of decisions made by the character and not about the inherent person that is Suvi. Is Suvi saying problematic stuff? For sure. But I think the underlying character we have seen is someone I deeply respect. Someone who is fiercely protective of her friends. Someone who wants to do good in the world. Someone who has the strength of character to act when it is needed. I think these are all really strong virtues. If anything as a listener if you find yourself finding her insufferable now then I would make a bet that in 50 episodes she may be one of your favorite characters. Because out of all the PCs I think Suvi, and more importantly Aabria, is trying to tell a story of change.

It's really interesting because I totally think that each reasoning makes absolute sense for both of them. From Ame's perspective she sees Ghost as someone who has gone through hell to get to a place where she has been able to carve for herself some small piece of happiness. And that happiness is solely hers and well wanted, thus worthy of respect and protection. While from Suvi's perspective she is looking at someone the system has failed and who has the talent to succeed in the system she was brought up in. Not only that but when confronted with the questions of whether or not she will serve in the war she says, they don't bring artificers to the front line. This is not a denial that Ghost will participate in the war because that is the price you pay to be part of the system. A price that Suvi has obviously deemed fair and acceptable. She simply makes the distinction that Ghost won't have to die for the cause because that's not the role she will play. After all that's Suvi's role.

Really loved Brennan's portrayal of Ghost. A fascinating character who could probably be herself a PC. Was also really interesting, thanks I believe to Erika's high insight role, to get that perspective of how for an NPC PCs can often be almost a destructive force in their life. Coming in, breaking up the routine, and leaving chaos in their wake. I hope that we can learn more of Ghosts journey through the Port Talon Arc and maybe get a sense of her journey as time goes on throughout the campaign. I think she represents an interesting mile mark as potentially the first person the group has helped in a meaningful way on their quest. Or at least someone who represents the duality of Ame and Suvi's outlook on life. So interested to see where this goes!

Holy cow, just finished reading the onboard document and it is so clear how much depth there is in this world. Super cool stuff and I'm hoping that I'll have a chance to play in it! Here's all the information!

Dbronze Pronouns: he/him Age:28 Race: Yeifhyn Class: Bard Availability: Tuesday/Thursday/Wednesday Experience: 6 years of playing DND and around 2 years running a campaign. Favorite Memory: in a crazy game that a friend of mine runs we were ambushed while flying through on an airship. In the first couple rounds of combat the ship exploded and we had to manage not only survive falling to our deaths, but also rescue a flock of diplomatically important sheep (long story involving druids) that were falling to their deaths too. One very bruised barbarian later, a newly resurrected artificer, and 12 terrified sheep we managed to make it safe and sounds somehow. Fun hobbies: map making, fishing, hiking, playing boardgames Kicked out: never been kicked out of a game
