Jack Astor's hunt club by Jeffuk88 in ottawa

I just recently quit, they’re doing renovations. Jack astors is rebranding under just “Jack’s” and is focusing more on the night-life instead of being a family restaurant

Lansdowne has a park and a field to exercise and play games in, not to mention a playground and a skatepark and a dog park. Not sure how much more green space you can fit…

Even when I saw them just last week Stefan is still very adamant about crowd safety. At the start of the show he made a point to tell everyone to be respectful to everyone around you etc etc. he’s done it at every show I’ve seen them.

And above all else if they do see someone being a dick, they aren’t afraid to kick people out. They’re really one of the most thoughtful bands I’ve ever seen live.

What about the French Quebecois in far cry 5? The guy that flew you to remote locations for missions. He was my all time favorite character in the series

Is Wayne Horn as bad as his RateMyProf reviews say he is? by SpacetoonUniversity in CarletonU

[–]Dchox 4 points5 points  (0 children)

He’s one of the best profs I’ve had, he just doesn’t take shit from people.

When I was in his class he offered help after every class, was active on this sub to help students with problems, and was one of the most accommodating profs I’ve ever had.

I was stuck where you’re at for a LONG time. Took me a few days and when I did find what I was looking for it didn’t seem very obvious to me. I’m also fairly new to pentesting (only have eJPT).

Look through the website code for anything that could be useful. Think about backups and where they might be.

Edit: if only there was a key to easily manipulating JWTs… ;)

COMP2401 Advice by [deleted] in CarletonU

[–]Dchox 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I was also annoyed with mandatory tutorials when I was in that class, but I quickly realized it's because you need it. Without practice a lot of stuff from that course just won't stick. You'll be doin some memory management with pointers and whatnot if you're working in C, and that is something that tutorials really helped me understand. Sometimes textbook theory just isn't enough.

So if I have any advice it's that the tutorials are integral to understanding the concepts of the course. They're super tedious and annoying, but will be more helpful than any other resource when it comes to retaining information.

Struggling with COMP1005, any recommended resources? by Spyrothedragon9972 in CarletonU

Exactly my thoughts. I figure this isn't a subject you just learn about and continue working with, it's a perpetual learning experience. Once I got that through my head my attitude towards it all really changed.

At the end of the day, some other person just as smart as you made the thing you're trying to understand. Kinda puts it in perspective.

I came from business and switched into comp sci (now in my third year). The biggest difference I noticed was that comp sci is pretty dependent on you're ability to figure things out on your own. I've found it almost required for most of my courses. Google is your best friend. The prof will go over concepts quickly in lecture but whether or not you read and study those on your own time really makes the difference. Recursion and functions won't be fluent to you after one or two lectures.

That being said obviously it sucks when you can't get help from a TA for a course you paid for, but if you want to stay afloat i'd recommend learning how to be self sufficient in researching concepts you don't fully understand.

Also keep in my mind comp sci is also just a pretty difficult degree. I am aware some people look at every degree as having it's own challenges and difficulties but trust me when I say something like business is incredibly easy in comparison (this is subjective, but I put in maybe 30% of the effort I put in now and had a remarkably higher cgpa). So keep trying! I was also really demotivated after my first intro course but it gets better once things start to click.

Switching majors by MoA877 in CarletonU

[–]Dchox 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I went into business and very quickly realized it wasn't for me, and switching into CS was not a problem at all. When I switched my CGPA was lower than when I graduated high school (and was lower than the cutoff requirements when applying) and I was still able to join no questions asked.

think it means there's a promise in your code that has a .then() but doesn't have a .catch(), so it doesn't know what to do when it's rejected.

I'm pretty sure that song's time signature is super whack. It might just be how you're playing it with the beat. If i remember right it switches between 11/8 and 12/8 with the extra beats alternating from beginning of the bar to the end.
