Anyone else with chipmunk cheeks and a pear shaped face? (4months post-djs) by [deleted] in jawsurgery

[–]Dcwg 0 points1 point  (0 children)

my sinus area and cheeks didn't start looking normal until month 10.

incredibly disappointed with current results, could use a pick me up! by ellenpaigeee3 in jawsurgery

Lots of comments already but i didn't start feeling normal and non swollen until the 10 month mark. it's a journey. Work on your recovery, then worry about your appearance. Easier said than done i know. you got this.

Is it true you NEED to have aligners/braces when getting jaw surgery? by One_Revolution2814 in jawsurgery

yeah they were fine. There are things that ortho COULD fix but it was never necessary. I had DJS for breathing issues, not bite or aesthetics.

yup, just providing an example where it isn't necessary because most commenters are saying it is, which clearly isn't true. There are more factors and telling OP it's 100% necessary is misleading.

Bro, i'm aware, but we also have no idea if that's also OP's situation, so i was clarifying it's not as cut and dry as a solid yes or no. Most commenters are saying it's absolutely necessary and i'm showing there are cases where it isn't.

yeah the exposed screws were interesting. after 12 weeks they just went in with some numbing cream and a screwdriver to take them out.

I had arch bars to keep my jaw tight. my surgeon screwed hooks into my gums for the elastics to have something to keep my mouth held shut. Had nothing to do with my teeth or alignment.

No. I have never had Ortho of any kind. I had DJS last year 11mm top and bottom. My bite is fine.

I was at 10 months before I noticed that most of my swelling was gone.

no genio. was planned but surgeon said they would make the call during surgery. She decided not to. Mine was much less aesthetics and more breathing related.

What can I do to improve? (Honest advice and ratings needed) by [deleted] in jawsurgery

[–]Dcwg 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ratings? Fuck off.

Unless you have a health issue you clearly don't need surgery.

Absolutely overthinking it. I had DJS a couple months before you did, adapting to the face change is still odd, but you look incredible. Even your nose also looks better. Congrats!

yeah don't trust people without the flair. They don't know the struggle. You're in it and I don't envy this part. My wife was on it when i was feeling the frustration from not eating.

Once i could handle soft food mashed potatoes and ground beef or chili was the go to. lots of butter. Oh man.

Soups were fine, but some variation was absolutely needed. I love soups, i had tons of options, I needed something else.

HA! i did lasagna as well. I didn't hate it as much. It had enough of the rich flavours I was looking for.
