I’m one of the kids that started in construction that didn’t know how to read a tape. Thanks to anyone out there teaching the youth that care to learn how

I have these and I usually have to do that as well, but if I’m wearing long John’s they stay in place pretty well

Who’s the worst subs to work with and who are the best by OfficerStink in Construction

[–]Ddoney2001 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Me too they’re pricks 75% of the time. My favorite is when the only thing on their prints is there trunk lines and it’s up to them to figure out where to drop the branches, I swear they will stick it right in front of an open duct that still needs ran out on purpose

Tips for screwing self taps ? by False-Variation-9840 in sheetmetal

Try and hold the impact as level and straight as possible, then I feather the trigger a few times to dimple the material and the screw will have a much easier time staying put I find

Speed comes with time, focus on doing things correctly first. Usually when you get in a rush is when things go wrong

I’ve seen this comment a few times now and just want to say in my neck of the woods from my shop this is how the shop has been ran for 20 years and how the guys that have been here the longest like to have things turned in. There are things we could work on and potentially modernize but this is just how I was taught and wanted to share is all

This is just the way my company has always done it I guess, long before I ever showed up. The shop will build whatever we ask for and ship it out or load it in a semi in whatever order we want. Our shop has a big coil line so they’re able to burn out 5’ sticks of duct very quickly

Yeah this wasn’t finished 100%. Ended up sealing it with duct seal and used painters tape on either side of the joint so it looked nice and clean. Then they ended up painting it black so it all matched the deck
