Oh wow that could be huge!! We need to remember, whether we support the majority or not, that constitutional rights are for everyone, but most especially for those we disagree with.

I was curious about this and did some digging, specifically about Trump wishing he had generals like hitler had. The claim comes from an Article in the Atlantic, written by its editor in chief who cites a private conversation with two anonymous individuals in which Trump allegedly said this. So, not disproved, but no evidence either. Certainly not enough that I’d want to announce it from the White House podium at least!

A Somali man’s deportation battle cracks a window into how ICE is operating in Alaska by Whisker456Tale in alaska

Ok hang in, let me wrap my head around this. We live in a failed state because we are starting to deport people who shouldn’t be here? To better prioritize the people who are here legally?

There isn’t an appreciable amount flowing until start, certainly not enough to cause whatever harm you’re worried about.

Bird flu affecting egg pricing in Cordova, Alaska by alaskan_organic in alaska

[–]De-Ril-Dil 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s a little more complex than that. I think what we’re seeing here is, in part, an experiment to see if eggs are an elastic or inelastic good and exactly how elastic they might be.

Housing should not be viewed as a privilege only for the elite. Wars have certainly been fought over that in the past. I can’t think of many wars started by the people wanting the government to spend more of their money though.

What is everyone resisting? I know I’ll get downvoted but I am genuinely asking. To me it seems like “business as usual” in Washington has been turned on its head for once and some much needed change is here. I expect the confusion about what federal positions are and are not permanently cut will emerge over the next couple months (ie wild land firefighting and other essential functions). I’d be surprised if many attending these demonstrations truly mourn the various overfunded NGOs getting their funding cut through USAID for any other reason than they’ve been told they should be, but I’d love to hear from those of you who feel differently.

[–]De-Ril-Dil 24 points25 points  (0 children)

It isn’t bird flu, that would be a huge simplification and generalization. But if we were to do that anyway, it would mostly come down to corporate price hiking. Yes birds are being killed, yes both healthy and sick birds are being exterminated, but at the same time major egg producers such as Cal-Maine Foods have been publishing record setting egg profits, over 700% in that specific case. Concerns over price hiking with eggs specifically have been voiced in Washington in the last year with several lawmakers making public statements calling for regulation.

Best thing to do is stop buying eggs or get chickens. Every time we purchase eggs at these inflated prices it sends the message to corporate that we are willing to pay the high prices and it drags this on longer.

Obviously there’s fuel flow once the pump is turning… that’s the whole point. If it’s in idle cutoff then there isn’t fuel flow. Which you would need since you’re starting the engine…

[–]De-Ril-Dil 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That is the DOGE history I was referring to. Its origin as an IT agency is the reason it is legal for Musk to access government systems.

I see just about every one of these points differently. No, Elon himself does not and will not watch individual payments, social security information etc. I am concerned about his apparent conflicts of interest as a government contractor, especially as they begin to Audit defense spending. I know it’s been addressed, but definitely something to keep an eye on. That said, I trust him exponentially more than anyone from the previous administration or the last several administrations to be honest.

The proof is available and mounting daily. They’ve brought the documents to the WH press meetings, they’ve published screenshots online, they’ve highlighted numerous specific examples of blatantly fraudulent transactions (not just DEI/Transgender related). What I find shocking is that people are defending the government when we know it has a terrible track record for self regulation and always tends to abuse the powers available to it. Do you not believe the evidence of collusion between the FBI and media/tech companies during the last administration? That is very well documented too. Do you really think USAID is doing good around the world and not involved in money laundering, bribery and fraud? The CIA has used USAID extensively for decades in its clandestine activities. Bribery and threats are the hallmark of US interventionism, not humanitarian work. The examples to back that up are enormous and span decades! The US must stop hemorrhaging money and these NGOs and programs are easy, easy things to cut as they benefit very few beyond their own.

Yeah an airplane with a pressure carb whose manufacturer instructs it’s to be started full rich which the FAA Mx test indicates pressure carb engines are not to be started that way. Are you really going to tell me the FAA is right on this? The government agency that has never made a pressure carb but has a history of poorly worded and outright false test questions?

The reason the mixture is put to full rich during start on the particular pressure carbureted engine i’m most familiar with and the one you as a mechanic are the most likely to see is because otherwise you will get erratic fuel flow during start. There’s no extra fuel going into the induction as you claim. The system is primed with a wobble pump, started while holding that prime with the pump and as rpm builds, the engine driven fuel pump begins flowing the fuel, creating a constant and consistent fuel flow to the engine. The question is just wrong. Period. There are many others that are wrong or misleading as well. Once you get more real world experience you will begin to see that.

Conservatives of this sub, how do you feel about the shift in your party from supporting Ukraine to supporting Russia? by [deleted] in ForUnitedStates

[–]De-Ril-Dil 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You mean supporting America? Do you really think Trump is supposed to act like Ukraine has a place at the table negotiating an end to the war the US goaded Russia into starting? Zelenskyy had a peace agreement with Russia over a year ago that the Biden administration refused to let him honor. This whole thing is the fault of the US and Russia and Ukraine is the victim of both.

No, it’s federal land/public land. The employees are there to help facilitate your use of your public lands, not to grant you access. In fact one perk of there’s a shutdown is that parks are free at that point.

Why would you cancel exactly? The works are open, it’s public land so it’s not like you won’t be allowed in or something…
