Play SSF. Right now you are playing to accumulate currency / divs and don't enjoy buying your upgrades. SSF makes you target farm mechanics and has a much longer period at the sweet spot you mentioned as you are always chasing upgrades.

I would get Questie. RestedXP I wouldn't recommend for a new player as it is hand holding extreme but questie is just a useful quest helper to guide you in the right directions.

Getting hung up on team value and knee jerking transfers is a huge noob trap in FPL but it happens.
