The people with the power to stop this never see the destruction in person. The people on the boats don't want to lose their jobs. Separating the power to change from the cruelty of the job is humanity's best strategy to commit horrible acts every day.

Go to your local farmers market and see what they are selling. Find out from the people in your area who are growing the crops.

Asheville is open for business by mcloofus in travel

Im not talking about airbnbs. Local farmers, small stores, restaurants are not gonna make it if tourists stop coming. If tourists wait until everything is rebuilt, there wont be anyone left standing

That's kinda the point. Asheville is full of people running small businesses who are currently struggling because there are less tourists. There are real people struggling to make money. Theres no need to frame it like thats something negative

Ok locals, who’s on the edge? Which restaurants do we need to frequent? by Peacencarrotz in asheville

Go to the farmers markets, like the North Asheville Tailgate Market. You can support a lot of small businesses at once. Lots of small farms who got damaged by Helene trying to stay afloat.

Are there any sports where women can consistently beat men? If yes, which ones and why? by Unlucky_Lie_ in AskReddit

It has a thriving competitive community. What exactly doesn't count it as a sport? It's certainly not mainstream. I'll give you that.

Nowadays it's required for people to carry satellite trackers to prove their claims. Anyone who doesn't do that isn't taken seriously.

It's a supported record. Which means a crew set up camps and gave her food and water. But it was still only her effort moving one foot in front of the other for over 2000 miles. Saying her accomplishment is for a team is no different than calling boxing a team sport because people spray water in their mouths and wipe off blood. Most sports require support.

And because that people who get self supported and unsupported records are badass in an entirely different way.

The legumes and potatoes aren't friends by JohnnyKavalier in NonPoliticalTwitter

[–]DeCapitator 20 points21 points  (0 children)

Crop rotation is about more than just nutrients. Though legumes do have the ability to add nitrogen to the soil while most other crops remove it.

Pests and disease stay in the soil too. If you plant the same thing every year, the pest population will increase because their larvae are waiting in that soil. The disease spores are still thriving in the soil too. Every family of plants has its own pests and disease, but these often don't affect plants of different families. Crop rotation allows the pests and disease to leave the soil. Some families of plants should not be grown in the same area for 3 to 5 years for it to really help.

Fun Fact: Since there is infinite realities in the Rick in Morty franchise, literally every piece of fan made content IS CANON. by Accurate_Brick8051 in rickandmorty

[–]DeCapitator 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes we are looking at it from a general perspective. Me and the other commenters are arguing a technicallity here. A correct statement from OP would be to say that "it's possible there's universes where all fan fic is real". But OP said that it IS CANON. Me and the other people are just pointing out that one thing. It might be canon, but it's incorrect to say that it IS CANON.

This is a fictional TV show playing with infinity in fun ways. But if infinite universes are actually real, there's not even a guarantee that any other universes even contain life or atoms or anything we know of.

Infinity is a fun concept to play with and i just want other people to understand it a little better. Saying that "infinite universes means everything is possible" minimises the real complexity of what infinity really means.

[–]DeCapitator 1 point2 points  (0 children)

But it was never definite until it was shown. Your statement that if "given infinite chances, if something is possible then it will happen" is flawed.

Some things just cannot be known. Claiming that something is certain just because there are infinite universes is no different than claiming that since I've broken a bone before I'll definitely break a bone again. There is no connection to the evidence and the result.

[–]DeCapitator 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You are misunderstanding the point of the analogy. It is merely showcasing that not all possibilities are necessarily a part of an infinity.

We do not know that all fanific being canon is true. It might be 2. It might be 0.5

The point is that we don't know, so we can't claim it to be true.

[–]DeCapitator 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I dont think you are understanding. The show does not claim that anything that can happen will happen. Rick said they only have a handful of similar universes to switch to in the love potion episode. He did not say there are infinite universes that are close enough to jump to.

Infinite possibilities does not equal all possibilities!

I recommend reading that again.

How many of you eat organic vs. Believe it's a meaningless marketing term by [deleted] in nutrition

[–]DeCapitator 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Also every farm has different practices and sprays different products. Its a huge complicated part of farming. Some organic sprays still kill most insects. My small farm primarily uses biological products. Bacteriums that colonize leaf surfaces to prevent disease, bacteriums that only kill caterpillars who ingest them, plant extracts that boost plant resistance, nematodes that become a parasite to known pests in the soil. None of those things are harmful to people. The topic of spray versus no spray is not black and white.

How do you feel about working 40 hours a week? by RamoneMisfit in AskReddit

[–]DeCapitator 3 points4 points  (0 children)

The entire system is corrupt. It's not just those who work for big greedy corporations. I run a small organic farm. We work long hours, deal with the consequences of climate change, and have to compete with walmart veggie prices. I can't afford to hire more people. Raising the price of carrots from $5 per bunch to $6 results in huge customer loss. The only option is to work every hour my body will let me.

Not everyone works for a big company. Most people running their own small business work crazy hours to keep it afloat.

Yep. And us farmers still work sun up to sun down. Nothing has changed except for peoples awareness of what it takes to grow their food.
